My speedo goes up to 140, but i have been unsuccessful in getting the needle past 125, maybe im still accelerating, but the needle does not move past there. Again, it's a 92 Talon NT.

I hit 130 before running out of road on my 99 GS when it was completely stock. I wouldn't want to push it further though...its scary stuff. The car feels solid as a rock, but at those speeds, even the slightest problem could result in death.

I had my 99 rs up to about 127mph with no problem after only having it for a week. All I remember is how pissed the Saturn(it looked hooked but who knows) look :)

I got my RS up to 165, at which point I hit the rev limiter in 5th gear. But I am cheating: I have a turbo on mine!

Man, it took a long time to slow down...little front discs and rear drums are totally overstressed on my car.

Ain't that a bitch! I got a 94 Laser that has a 1.8, strait up bone stock and on a very lucky day i had like 110-115, I did have the economy air conditioner on, but i don't think that made much of a differnce. Its in storage now, but when i get it back out in may it'll have a brand new K&N air filter, and hopefully a new header, spark plugs and wires. Other than that, its more show than go! :)

This is going to sound stupid, but I had my 92 Laser NT up to about 105 when I realized that a) the road was going to end soon, and b) I had worn S rated tires. Lets just say the idea of a blowout at 120 didn't thrill me! :-) But I still managed to take the 45mph turn at the end of the road at 90... (kids, this is an example of stupid driving..which of course make for some of the best stories)

The day I got my car, I got out on I5 and ran it as fast as I could.... I managed 115 before I ran out of road and had to exit. Since then I have gotten a couple of mods and I'm going to test it out here really soon.

My 93 Eclipse topped out at about 130-135 mph on the way back from Houston this weekend. I decided to play with my friends new Cougar as I walked him about 2 car lengths. I then decided to do a fly by just to make sure he remembered that you don't mess with DSMs, which is when I hit 135 mph. And thats with only an exhaust and a K&N filter!

im not sure who said it but tere right a front wheels drive is no good on the strip with about 440hp@crank all they do is spin if i was to get on an interstate or freeway couldnt many people catch up or atleast couldnt get there as fast and thats what i love abou dsm cars,,,,,,they get there faster than everything else 0-60 is like what im talkin about

Maybe it is just me..... Except for my ram air intake, my 97 RS is pretty much stock as far as go faster parts. I had the car up to 125. It went to 125 pretty good, but once I got there, it was like hitting a brick wall. It WOULD NOT go any faster.

I had my bone-stock (at the time) '93 Eclipse GS (1.8L) up to 125 before I ran out of road. I actually took a pic of my speedometer at 120 mph, which I would not recommend ANYONE trying! One hand on the steering wheel and basically having your eyes shut for five seconds is kinda scary......

I had my 92 GS up to 124...it mightve gone faster but I was on a two lane 55mph road heading for a 35mph one cop town. You know how those small town cops are. Hahaha. Had it up to 120 another day on a wide open four lane. There are all sorts of stores and traffic lights on that road now but this was before all that. Two cars were on the road with me side by side blocking the way. I shot by them in the turn lane at 100 mph lol. Woulda loved to see their faces. The car was bone stock then too. Its got an open K&N and a borla header now. Ill have to try it again sometime haha.

I was able to hit about 130 in my 99 RS a few months ago. It was over teh holidays, I was on my way out of town, and there were no cars anywhere to be seen oddly enough, so I figured what the hell, let's see what this thing can do.

I got up to about 120 fairly quickly, but around 125 is when the car started to accelerate very slowly. I don't know what the speed limiter is set at, but I believe I still had a ways to go to redline in 5th gear. By the time I hit 130 though, I got kinda chicken and backed off. Like someone before me said, at that speed any little unexpected incident can mean death.

I went out earlier today at tried to top out my 95 ESi. I knew it needed a tuneup, but 97 mph is just pathetic. Even more sad is the fact that this was on a flat road and I even had a tailwind!

Man, I can't believe this. As I am typing this, I am still trying to come to terms with the fact that my little red car can't even touch 100. And yes, the A/C and radio were off. Parking brake was released too.

So now I am going to spend the next few days giving my car a serious tuneup. New filters, plugs, wires, engine ;-)

And let us never speak of this godforsaken day again,

A little story...

Myself (92 Talon FWD Turbo w/warped rotors) and two friends one day decided to race home from work one night. One has a 98 Eclipse GS and the other has a AT 97 V6 Civic. As we were getting on the on ramp I hit the trip odometer and start a really cool 9min techno song that I love to race to, anyway the GS was first, civic second, and me third the GS takes off and I am stuck behind the civic, as soon as I get some room I blow by the civic and have to catch the GS (who is already 1/4 mile away) well I catch him in no time and at this point we are playing cat and mouse at 120 in traffic, about five miles into the race i get stuck behind a truck (the civic finally catches up) I get an opening and blow through it (bye bye civic) I cought the GS again only to get stuck in traffic again, with about 2 miles to go the GS slows to 100 because he thinks he is so far ahead that he has won the race, until I blew by him at 130+!! Anyway when we finally got to the exit and stopped at the off ramp light I looked at my stero and the song had just ticked over to 5 min, I looked at the odometer and it read 11 miles, 11 miles in five minutes, that is an average of over 125 mph for over 11 miles straigt.

Needles to say the civic never wanted to race again.

My sig tells the story. :D I chased an M5, unsuccessfully, and got to 130mph at 5500rpm's and I had plenty of road to do it. Let me tell you, that was scary cause the car was twitchy as hell.

Note:1.8L's don't have rev limiters unless you put one on.

I am cheating with one of Bill's kits too, and I got 171 out of her before hitting redline, I think the difference is that I have 18's and got a couple more mph out of her.

Throw in a 5th gear from a Neon and I'd say we could get closer to 200.

Ya, when I go fer it I'll be sure to be on an open highway in the early a.m with nobody around. But, the biggest risk for me when going that fast is I'm so damn paranoid that I'm going to get caught that I look all around for cops and take my eyes off the road. To me, that is where the real danger is because I have full confidence in my driving skills and my car w/ V rated tires. But, that is where my car really jams at 100+ mph :D

Didn't run out of road at all. Between the last tollbooth outside of Aurora and Dekalb, there's a 25 mile stretch of highway. I even had my ass handed to me be a modded Volvo Turbo wagon in the same area.

there is a way to make them accents faster all you have to do is put the 2.0 elantra engine in it you have to get a 96 or newer engine the mitsu engine will not fit an accent but the hyundai 2.0 is 140 hp also and i happen to have one in my garage with about 65000 miles on it

i dont know baout 1G's but the only 2G's with speed limiters were GST's and TSI FWD's because of the tires they had on them. AWD cars didnt have speed limiters and non-turbos did not have speed limiters.

what rpm are you guys at cause i know when im doing like 120 in my baisicly stock eclipse my car had like nothing left in it but i forgot to look at the rpms :( im more intrested to figure out what rpm at like 160 to see if eclipses trannys will really work that high.
