I own a 92 2.0 Talon. I think it's prety quik, or should I say used to be pretty quik. I blew the motor up and I gotta get a new one. I found one for 750 with 50K on it an I gotta swap all my stuff over to this one, i.e. water pump, alternator, etc... Anywayz, I wanna do this and get my car repainted, any ideas on anything else i should do to it while I have the motor out, cheap (internal?) mods that will gimme a few hp. I'm going to change the clutch considering the one on their now has about 130K on it I think it's a good idea. But i think im gonna get a new TB cuz I was having a big problem with idle surge there at the end and I have a brand new water pump that im gonna put on it. Any other prevention things i should do while im in there??? I'm also wantin this to be one slick quick 2.0 with some inexpensive mods as im not a rich person. LoL. Anywayz, just gimme any ideas ya got please. Thanx in advance.

The best bang for your buck mod is without a doubt, removing your balance shafts. And since you have the motor out, now is the PERFECT time to do it. It can be done for as little as $5, or you can buy a kit from someone like Bushcur (Dunno how to spell that) for I think 50?
Anyways, the GREAT thing about this mod is that it let's you rev quicker, and it also eliminates the balance shaft belt, which can break on you.

i would not remove the balance shaft at all.. but while it is out i would definatly try to get the head ported if you can afford it, and maybe get the throttle body rebuilt and bored out.

No, the balance shafts DO serve a purpose, but it is one that you CAN live without, just a little extra vibration. What about getting your intake manifold ported too?

I never really thought that much about the porting, but I am wondering...is it something that a good machinist could do or where would i take it to be done and what would you recommend porting it to?
