What type of horsepower gains am I going to see from a bored out 2g throttle body + an extrude honed intake manifold? Is it worth the cost? Thanks.

Why not just get a 1G TB and a 1G intake manifold?

When I tried to do some research on extrude honed intake manifolds on the Talon Digest, I couldn't find any conclusive numbers. Some people got faster, some people got slower, but the changes could have just been from driving, since most of us don't run exactly the same everytime. Buschur recommends it, and Al Blaha runs insane fast with his, but it costs alot for who knows how much performace gain.

The 1G TB is a pretty good and fairly cheap upgrade, I got mine for $100 from a junkyard. I don't have a 1G intake manifold yet, so I had to bore out the inlet hole on my 2G intake manifold a little bit to make the larger TB actaully worthwhile. Are you going for a fast drag car or an autox type car?

I was planning on getting a throttle body and intake man. off the trader for a couple hundred, and while I was getting them port matched I though I might as well run do the extrude honing process, but if there are no hardcore dyno numbers I guess I won't even bother. I heard one guy say don't bother doing either and just swap to a 1g head or get your 2g head ported.

So what type of gains did you see with the 1g TB?

there has been a lot of discussion about the whole 1g head on the 2gs and such, i think really you will see a better gain from a ported 2g head and intake then with a 1g, the 2g are designed better then the 1g even though the intake is bigger it doesn't necessarly mean its better, from what i understand the 2g intake delivers a better pattern of air flow which mixs the a/f better. now that doesn't mean don't do some porting, but on the intake side just gasket port and polish and on the exhaust side hog it out, then go out and get some cams so you can move some more air through the opened up engine you just built

Why even bother getting an extrude honed intake manifold, that crap costs 400 bucks for a 10 CFM gain over an unported 1G. You could spend cash on other mods for 400 bucks that will give you more power. The 1G head swap is a pretty good idea, If you have ever seen the 1G ports they are pretty darn big, thats some power right there, why waste money porting a 1G head if you can pick up a used one for like 200 bucks that will give you just as much power, I remember calling Pruven performance one time and asking for the price of a ported 1G head, he asked what my 1/4 goal was, I told him an 11.2 and he told me not to waste my money, that just shows how much they flow. Its up to you, but Id say spend the cash on the turbo and IC.
