1. It`s my daily driven car
2. I use it for street-racing
3. I use it for learning more about cars... it`s very cool to learn something about a high-tech-car with a whole computer in it .. and u can see whats every sensor is doing and so on... thats cool..

I like to drive a DSM everyday and race one. I found the best medium is to have 2, one to drive to work and one for racing and occasional cruising. I also believe it is a sin to have a DSM and leave it stock, you atleast need a fuel pump, boost gauge and MBC... Do something..... I hate seeing people rasing hoods on GSX's, TSi's and GSt's not even to see a hacked aircan....sickening. :puke:

To get pussy. (j/k - I am married)

In all respect, its something to do. I love to wrench, clutches, turbos, suspension, gauges, wiring electronics, stereo equipment, and anything that occupies me for a few hours every now and then. I have become quite a good mechanic because of this car. Doing a 'header' on a honduh is a sleepy walk in the park. Cams, no prob. Pull the engine?? - its gonna cost you less for me to do it than ANY shop, and you get to learn. Want to learn how to do something, I will teach you. Great reason to get with the guys and bullshit. Gotta love being a grease monkey.

I am not too much of a mechanic. My #1 reason would be learning mechanics. I promised myself when I bought my DSM, that everything on it will be done by me. So far, I'm keeping my promise ;). Then, the obvius stuff, daily driver, drag racing and weekend panty hacker.

I think everyone should choose 'learning mechanics' cause it's hard not to when you own a dsm. Just look at all the great info that is avalible to use. Well ok, maybe if you don't drive your car hard then stuff won't break but whats the fun in that. :D

This poll needs some tweeking. Its adding up all of the categories, then averaging the individuals from that.

ex: (from current numbers when I viewed it)
Total Votes (as displayed on bottom scree) is 394

Total of all vote submissions (sum of all categories) is 1082

So for comparison

301 of 394 voters is daily, which equates to 76%

but the poll equates 301 of 1082 voters which equates to the shown 28%

The poll still shows majority of votes though, so everybody should still be able to see the primary votes,...:)

Unfortunately, I use mine as a beater. I have the SOHC 1.8 liter, and there are only a few available mods, and to give it 150 hp with 2,000$ is just plain nuts. After I graduate college, I plan on taking a dead TSi and rebuilding the entire engine, along with a few other project cars.

I learned alot from my car, but now it's a driveway ornament That should have been an option, driveway ornament. I've owned my Talon for about 2yrs and only driven it for about 1yr.:(

Also, being able to break an axle is cool to tell everyone but it sucks having to replace them. My drivers rear axle broke inside the rear diff. That was hard to get out.

We've never tried the "multiple choice" type of poll before so I thought I'd give it a shot... it's possible the code is a little weird? :dunno:

I think thats what it is. I like the ability to have multiple votes though. Its summing up all of the votes instead of using the Total (thats displayed in the border), for dividing.

I'd offer to fix the code for you but my hourly rate is $85 and I don't have the time to offer any help:D, sorry I couldn't resist:D

I got my DSM first cause Stock it had more HP than all the other cars in it price range. I later found that the 4g63 has great power potentials and so I started building the car. If you own one than than it is a given that you have had to fix one, so I guess I am learning how to build, upgrade and maintain the beast. I call her Destiny….

I bought my car for looks and a little bit of speed. Once I start making more money, I think most of it will go towards mods, but a liiiittle bit is going into making my stereo a little better, and maybe a little towards mods. But when I bought it, I think it was the best thing overall (looks/speed-wise, plus you gotta love the hole shot with AWD :D).

She's been in the shop for a month now. New clutch (CFDF), lightened stock flywheel, and new block (fuckin' crankwalk).

Warranty company is going to court too, as they refuse to honor the extended warranty (which explicitly states it will cover the "crankshaft and main bearings." They say it's normal wear and tear.

RollinChromeNT
02-27-2003, 09:20 AM
That's supposed to say (after the stereo comment) a little bit on looks, not mods. I can't edit it. . .

And I'm a daily driver, with the occasional street race.

Dan showed me the video of you guys at the rally-x on Feb. 2. It looked like fun sliding around in the mud, but you guys were all going so slow. I think you'll enjoy it a lot more when it drys up and you can pick up some speed. I know I did.

ive owned my car since spring 2001. and ill tell u other than winter, he doesnt see much down time.

and before i owned my talon i didnt know the first thing about a motor working. now i can have a motor/tranny out seperated and cleaned in 4 1/2 hours.:D so it is definatly a testimate to there mechanic making ability.

i use mine for the strip every wed nite and hit some cruise spots, piss off the old timers and there 15 second muscle.

and every now and then the occasional Z sees my tails.
i dont take him out when it rains and he has never seen snow.

It's a New Year and time for another post!
I use my car mainly for ladies. I get lots of looks, and comments like "whoa dude! nice car!!" or stuff like "no way you own a car like that!!".
My latest funny:
I was driving and I had my mom in the car (I'm 16 not that old) because after going to a family friend's house we were going to get the oil changed on the car, so we said kill 2 birds with one stone, no need to come back etc etc. While on the way, A girl in a VW Jetta pulled up next to me, and saw my car, and gave me a nice smile. She was cute. Then my mom popped up and the girl saw, and quickly hit the gas pedal and sped away. We both laughed, and I kinda felt bad inside knowing that if she wasn't in the car, I'd probably have a date the the movie theater that was about 2 miles away ;).
Goes to show. Don't ride with your parents when your in a "Hot Car".

Daily freeway cruiser and getting looks from fellow DSM owners who say "Wow, a 1G DSM!" You can tell they're getting rare in this part of the country.

Actually my first dsm was used for my college auto class. I never learned so much in a class in my life. That was a project car, but I drive my own dsm now. Stock, but it runs and kills Honda's on any given day!

I just purchased mine a few days ago, but it will be used as a daily driver and I will be getting it out to the track once it's all fixed up.

I wouldn't have mind to track the car doing autocross but since the diff is getting welded that's out of the question

Strictly drag racing!

My old DSM was a daily driver. 22,000 miles in 8 months before I sold it. The new DSM isn't registered yet but, it will be driven almost every day.

I bought my talon with the idea of being a Daily Driver but after 2 days it broke down, so I'm going to probably turn it into a weekend/Drag car

Hmm, lets see, it WAS supposed to be weekend, then turned to daily. Always had the mechanical part to it and well now, I wish I had it. Been in the shop since August :( but I should have it back next week :D

Well a bit of everything I guess: I want dd driveably, weekend crusin style, drag racing power, and a unique but subtle touch of show and shine.
