Hey guys! I'm gonna be heading to the track for the 3rd time in my cars life. However this time my Talon will have a lot more poop behind it. I'm installing a 16G, fuel pump and ACT2100. As it stands now the car has a 2.5 to 3 inch exhaust, 1G BOV and UIP and K&N Filter. With that done to it the car ran a 13.93@96mph with the launch @ 5500 rpm. My problem is that launching it that high would induce clutch slip, but if I launch it at 5k rpm then she bog.

My question is would the additional ponies from the 16G get rid of the bog @ 5k and allow for higher launch rpm's without blasting the ACT2100? Lastly, I only race this car at the track maybe 4 times a year.

Thanks!

So the car has been racing twice or you have? Frankly, if you have only been racing twice, I would probably say user input is the problem. (lack of experience) If you are more experienced than that, sorry, don't mean to say you don't know what you are doing :)

The first many trips to the track I took, it seemed I obsessed on the clutch/throttle motions. Now I don't even think about it anymore. (well, now that I run a stutterbox I dont have to think about it, but I stopped thinking about it before that anyway :))

With your old setup I probably would have kept it at 5500 and just let the clutch out quicker. I mean if that was a stock turbo and stock clutch, you are not likely to break much.

Now if you are going to the track with a WHOLE new setup I don't think you can talk RPMs before you get to the track. You have to see how it works out and where the power is. Every car and every setup is different.

BTW, AWDs really deserve a 2600.

Where do you race? Is Maple Grove near you?

speaking of Maple Grove, any one going up there Sunday, supposed to be a big event. sunny all day with a high of 75. perfect. unfortunately i cant race due to the blown turbo, now waiting for the Frank 4.

Oh yeah, 5500 should be plenty of revs for the 16g, if it bogs you have too much traction and are letting the clutch out too fast, or have some sort of problem power wise. with a 2100 i wouldn't think youd have to slip it that much though because it will slip a little even if you dont try (@5500). play around with it on the street(without breaking any traffic laws) and once you get the feel you wont lose it.
