I drive a 1999 GSX 5 speed as some of you may already know, but a pretty good friend of mine has a 1997 RS automatic. He ordered a Star turbo stage II kit a while back and he FINALLY got everything for it. It seemes to take forever. Anyway, the kit claims 280 hp is possible (Althought we all know how that goes sometimes) We are wondering if the stock RS automatic transmission is up to the task. How much power has been run through these transmissions in stock form? Are there any upgrades to the non turbo transmission? I see kits for the GST and GSX but what about the GS? I there a limited slip unit available for this car? Is this the same transmission that is in the Dodge Neon RT? I know it has the same engine. If so maybe I'll look for parts for that car also. i dont know if he would need a whoel new tranny, when i owned an RS i was going to get the hahn stage 3, which is 300+ horses, and all hahn said i should need is a different torque convertor.
