I would like to know if anyone has any opinions on the Super60/T28 upgrade from a T25??? I would go with a 16G but the cost with the install kit makes the 16G about $300-$500 more (I'm guessing).

Here are some points I may mention:
1) I auto-x more than a drag
2) WARRANTY!!!!!!!
3) $$$
4) Daily Driven Car
5) Mid 13's are ok for me, 12's may be harder on a FWD compared to a AWD

So, I'll ask the question again, for my situation, is the T28 upgrade a worthy investment?

I've been checking these out because I want to maintain my extended warranty without any hassles.

The T28/28 made by Forced Performance (www.forcedperformance.net (http://www.forcedperformance.net/dsm_information.htm)) seems to be the preferred model. It has T28 exhaust and compressor sides. It's supposed to spool as fast as a T25 and outflow a small 16G. It's rated at 550 CFM, 16g is 505 CFM. Roadrace Engineering (www.roadraceengineering.com (http://www.roadraceengineering.com/eclturbos.htm)) used to sell the T28/S60 and that's what is listed on the Web Site, but I spoke to Mike last week and he is also selling the T28/28.

I talked to Forced Performance today and they are selling the T28/28 for $750 which makes it cheaper than the 16G with an install kit.

So far I haven't seen feedback from anyone who is running one.

i have seen cars with the t28 upgrade and was not very impressed, i even raced a car that had the t28 upgrade way back when i had my t25 and it wasn't even a challenge, plus the guy had more mods than i did, he thought i was lying about having a t25 so i popped the hood...the t28 does flow more than a t25 but for the price of the t28 well..i'd rather save up for something a little bigger.
as far as the warranty.. to a dealer every mod is equal. if you have an exhaust, ic pipes, gauges or even wheels they will try to deny you coverage. my opinion is don't bother with the t28, get a big 16g and the tweaker/hacker kit from roadrace. i think you might get $8-$850 in it total.

good luck,
bill

The T28/T28 isn't a bad turbo. Dennis Grant ran a high 12 a special Forced Performance T28/T28, but he is good driver and his car isn't your normal daily driver. His mph wasn't very high, so he used some good driving to get it into the 12s. I would just get a 16G though...

As far as warrenty, I dunno, are you going to put everything else back to stock if you have to bring it in? One local guy here had a 98 GSX with a bunch of mods, but still had the T25. One of his cyclinders had low compression, so he put EVERYTHING back to stock and tried to take it in under warrenty, but they could tell the car had been modded before and denied him...

The same applies here in PA. The dealer must prove that your wheels were the reason that your motor spun a bearing or you can take action to get the warranty work done. (Previous was a dealers decision not to work on a guys car around here with suspension work done and a few other little things.)

Hey Ecoli, good to see someone else from SE! :)

That guy needs to argue that with his dealer. At least in Michigan, state law says the dealer has to PROVE the problem was a DIRECT result of the modifications. I think they would have a tough time showing that bigger exhaust and bolt on mods would cause that type of problem! Dealers just suck!

Guys, that's the case everywhere now. There was a ruling that the dealer can only deny service if it is a direct result of the modification. Even ignoring that the only thing not covered is the modified piece. No longer can they deny service because of a piece altered or removed further up or further down the drivetrain or suspension.
