View Full Version : roush slowstang?
I wish this was a kill story...
Anyway, has anybody ever heard of a "roush" mustang? Can they put up a fight? It looked real nice as 'stangs go. '99 or '00. I tried to get him to bite and go with me, once or twice. No go. I figure he was scared of my 4" Thermal tip...not sure. It had an extra tag on the rear trunk lid that said roush.

It is just another tuner mustang like the steeda, or saleen. I am not sure but I think they are available in many stages from Roush(sp) from mild to wild.

The Roush mustang is a production car, not a tuner car. It has side exit pipes with crossover, lowered suspension, and Recaro seats right from the factory. They massaged the 4.6L and is basically comparable to a Cobra with some extra torque and horsepower. I've seen these things in Detroit for the past 2 years, mostly with the factory instrumentation in it. (i.e. it was a rolling test bed, not someone willing to race)

I know there is a v-6 and a v-8 one, A friend of mine had a V8 one and had some balls. He bought it from my friend at BetterALL Transporting, Racing and Sales. The one he had we put on the Dyno and it pushed 392hp at the wheels plus on top of that it came from the factory with a 150 shot of nos. He didn't ever get to race it. I know at least the one he had was for some one with Corvette dreams and candy dallors. I was able to get him a deal on it a 97 for $13,800 but it was a seized vehicle, it did have a clen title though. Now if you have american muscle in your blood could there not be a better deal. He had to get rid of it though because the way he drove he was lucky to se 10mph on the freeway.

There was one at bristol dragway a few weeks ago. i was racing my buddies Turbo TransAm. This guy was talking about it being a "Stage2" Roush car. It went 12.70's. The TurboTransAm went 10.90 btw :)

The Roush package is an aftermarket thing that can be added to many Ford cars/trucks. It can be cosmetic, but on 'stangs it's usually a big performance upgrade. Roush makes most of the Cobra's engine, so when they tune a GT or Cobra they know what they're doing. Roush 'stangs look sweet anyway, with different wheels, exhaust, ground effects, hood, bumper, etc. I have seen a lot of fakes though, but just like other 'stangs looking at the rear bumper will tell you a lot... it should only say ROUSH not mustang or mustang gt.

Roush is like Steeda and Saleen. You can order a stang and have it sent straight to any three for upgrades that are covered under warrenty. There top of the line can be supercharged putting it over 400hp easy though very expensive. Here's their site: http://www.roushperf.com/index1.htm

Roush does build tuning cars and sells aftermarket parts, but the Roush mustang that is available at a dealer is built on the floor of Ford Dearborn Car Assembly Plant. Trust me on this one.
