I'll be going to my first track session in a few weeks at Lebanon Valley in NY. I get nervous just in a regular street race when I'm racing an AMC gremlin. Is there any unmentioned rules or proper edicate I should follow, so I don't look like an asspipe. Any suggestion on race fuel[octane #, brand(CAM 2, VP)] and Boost level? Thanks guy's.
Tom

Just stage correctly, don't try to stage with your rear wheels, like I seen some dumbass honda owners do at import track days. Slowly roll up, when you set off the first staging light, stop, and very slowly creep forward, until you have both staging lights lit. If you roll a little too far, the first staging light will go out, that is called a deep stage. You don't want to deep stage, because it will make your ETs slightly worse. If you roll too far and both staging lights go out, QUICKLY get into reverse and back and re-stage. You can wait for the green light, or go on the 3rd yellow to try to get a decent reaction time. However, don't worry about the reaction, it doesn't affect your ET time at all. It is only important during actual racing when its the first person to cross the finish line that wins, not just the fastest time. Try to avoid the water if you can.

At the Long Island Motorsports Park dragstrip they want you to roll UP all your windows. Is this true of all the dragstrips?

I kept getting this wrong because in autox they always made us roll down the drivers window...

Yea, every track I have been to makes you roll all windows up.

Yup i was always the ass with my windows down my first day. Also some tracks make you wear a helmet all the time, but usually you don't need them till 13's.

As for race gas, if you do use it you can up your boost a bit and you can advance your base timing a bit too, but without an egt to tune with i wouldn't get carried away.
Try to use unleaded race gas, the higher the octane the more you will resist detonation, but even 100 octane will be sufficent for added boost.

With your mods i think you should see some healthy 13's. I ran 20psi on the 14b with 100 octane and i never lit off my knock led, but that doesn't necessarily mean i didn't detonate at all. I was a bit careless, but i have a bit more of a pillow since i have forged pistons.
