I think the stock 1/4 mile time for a 1g GSX is 15.4, but someone correct me if I'm wrong. It could probably get down as low as 14.9 with a really good driver.

Yes I have seen both 1g and 2g models published between 15.3 and 15.5. Sometimes not only is it a better driver that can get faster times but some cars are just blessed at the factory and beat published times. :)

In my 97 Talon TSi front wheel drive, I ran a 15.1 at Great Lakes Dragway, in Wisconsin. Totally stock. I had a pretty decent launch, but that night was the first time I had ever launched the car.

I also was running on some pretty bad, winter no-name tires, and at least 3/4 tank of gas. 14's were very possible with practice, stock tires, and less gas.

Are you sure stock times aren't lower on the 95+ GSX/TSi AWD? I thought I remembered reading in C&D that the previous gen turbo AWD Eclipse was "almost a full second faster in the quarter than the '00 V6," which was being tested.

I ran 14.88 @ 89.34mph last friday with my 100% bone stock Talon, with a 1.92 60ft. It took me about 15 runs though to hit a 14 second pass.

Wow 14's totally stock. Very Nice. 1G or 2G? Was that at LVD?

Duh :)

Both times I have been there, there was a head wind, pretty strong too. I guess because the way it sits in the valley. Every get a benefical tail wind there?

Well, that was my first time racing there (actually my first time racing ever..), but the wind was almost completely calm.

My best stock time was 15.7 @ 90mph, totally stock. And at high elevation. Front wheel drive.

Made me happy at the time...

I was able to hit 15.3 @ 90+ mph. The car would easily do 14s in the 1/4 with someone who actually knows how to launch a FWD turbo car. I tried every trick I know and it would either blow the tires off or bog. The best 60' I got was 2.5 seconds.

I need to look at my timeslips again to get my best 60' time. I didn't realize before this discussion that it was so important.

I know all about that bog when you launch to low. Destroyed my 1/4 mile time quite a few times. But then you push a little too hard, and you lose tons of rubber. I am going to the track tommorrow, so maybe I will try everyone's suggestions.

Shawn, damn nice run for your first day of racing!

John, if you mean that you didnt now the 60' time was so important, this is what DSM4eva said this in another thread in the drag forum:
quote:
I've always been quoted an old drag rule-of-thumb that a decrease of a tenth within the 60' will net a decrease of a .15 on the overall ET, not just a 1 for 1 decrease.

Actually I have heard that for every tenth you trim from your 60, your ET drops two tenths! 60 foot is damn important.

Retreads are really helpful for your 60' (for AWDs). I have a set. I never saw any FWDs using them though :)

I used greendot retreads for a while back in the day. Comparatively, the Nitto 555Rs kick major ass over the Green Dots. I've never seen anyone with an AWD running 555s, would that be a bad idea? Too much hook & broken axles?

Hell, all of the fast AWD guys out here are runnning Nitto DR's. This f'ing track is so slick that even with the DR's you can't hook up very well. Being AWD, you can't do a real burn out to heat them up though.

Best pass to date 12.817 @ 108.42 with a 1.786 60'. Not bad for a 4 door huh?

Dyno sheets at http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Track/1635/Galant_info.html

PS: Yeah, I know that time is slow for that dyno sheet. This track sucks!

In my old 92 Eclipse GSX w/ 87K miles, bone stock, and straight off the highway (meaning still had the spare tire, jack, seats, etc.), I pulled a 9.4 ... in the 1/8th mile! (Hehe) This equates to about a 14.7-14.9 1/4 mile time. I think it was blessed from the factory though :D This was my first time to ever drag race any car, I was nervous as hell, and only got in 4 runs that night. Maybe it could've gone faster, but that was that car's first and last time to a drag strip.

on my 91GSX bone stock at the time i did 15.1 @88 with 17" rims on. car has an awsome luanch. it was my very first time dragging on the track (e-town). i ran consistantly and one a trouphy =). as i add more mods it just seems to get harder to luanch the b%%#!.
(sorry no spell check...)

16lbs.... might give you that time. But still thats a real fast 1/4 time... I would be happy to get a 14.5 on my A/T with 16g, AVCR, 15 psi. and 3'' cat-back.
