Well Sean Glazer blasted two 9.22@155mph back to back passes (identical numbers), and won the Quick 16 at the Battle of the Imports at Route 66 (IL). Interesting was the fact that he loaded in some tires into the trunk of his Talon to get some grip at the line. Sean took out Lisa Kubo as well. She went 9.21 earlier in the day, but fought to keep her car straight when racing Sean and only went 10 something.

I didn't do too well, and I have a list of excuses ... did manage a 12.1@115mph in the one the one clean pass that I managed to make. My pregnant wife made quarter finals in her class with a best of 14.3 in her Galant. She's hoping to make one more event before being forced to hang up her gloves.

Anyway, a nice weekend out in Joliet IL.

I've never heard of AWD DSM have traction problems like some of the FWD and RWD cars.

I think Sean add the weight so that he could meet the weight requirement for the quick class. He runs two power adders turbo and nos.

I remember Brent Rau getting disqualified from a event for being 25lbs under weight.

Its good to see Extreme finally win a event. Against some of the fastest Hondas in the country.

you obviously never seen a fast awd dsm run have you. both sean and brent have serious traction problems. they both run slicks and both spin through first and most of second gear......yes that's all 4 wheels spinning. if they don't spin that usually means they broke. hell i've even watched 10 and 11 second awd dsm's spin all four in first gear.
and as far as being under weight. i believe the awd's have a different weight limit then the fwd's so being under weight for a awd is probaly 2600lbs. the tires were for traction i'm sure. obviously sean has found the presious awd driveline parts he has been waiting and searching for......that's why the talon is back. the mirage was just something to keep them occupied. although i have heard that terry glazer(seans dad) will be piloting the mirage now.

I have seen both Extreme cars run and I know they spin all 4 tires, but I think putting weight is not going to help stop wheel spin when their running slicks.

Do you really think the Extreme's cars weight 2600lb ? Go take a good look at Brent's car is held together by rivets.

Like I said Brent Rau got disqualified from a event at Englishtown for being underweight.

The Hondas are lighter to start with and alot of them run only one power adder. When they run two power adders they have to add weight to their cars too.

I'm glad Extreme won anyway.

Blitz, Sean said he was looking for traction, we spoke to him immediately after the run. My wife and I video taped one of his runs from the tower behind the starting lines, and it showed him snake all over the place in the first three gears, I'm going to try and make an avi file out of it.

Sean's dad did mention that they came in 600punds heavier than the Honda's, so your guess is as good as mine as to what purpose the extra weight meant.

I thought the reason for the FWD Mirage was because of rule changes? Didn't they put the "fast" AWD's in with the slick running RWD cars? If so, the AWD doesn't give you much of an advantage (over a RWD slicked car), especially if you're braking AWD parts all the time.

The FWD Mirage would let them compete in the Honda classes (more money :-) and get the weight down to be competitive w/ the Hondas.

TurboMitsu, I have a ton of excuses, everything from the "sun in my eye", to "no traction" ... you pick one :)

Sunday went well, however my EGT reading decided to give me a fright, read my posting in the Tech Help section. Furthermore, my car seemed to have lost 10 - 20 or so HP on Sunday, not sure if the 15mph head long wind had anything to do with it. Got to smoke a full race 55 Blown Chevy that got the crowd to its feet. My wife caught it on the camcorder, can I convert footage caught on a digital camcorder to avi/mpeg file?

Cars back with Adam cause its smoking ... more problems :(

I was at the next Battle of the Imports at Atco Raceway in New Jersey where I spent most of my time hanging with the Extreme crew. Sean ran another 9.17 @ 152mph. Lyle wasn't able to hit 9's.

They are required to weigh over 2500lbs because of the supposed AWD traction advantage. The Hondas are allowed to be much lighter, even though they are pulling similar 60' times with their huge slicks and traction bars. Their feeling is that the rulemakers are biased towards hondas winning the events and that is the cause for the unfair weight rules. Doesn't matter though, DSM's are in front anyway.
