I have that extra wire from the greddy turbo timer that runs the automatic sensor. However I have the wiring harness, and I don't know where the automatic sensor wire connects to.

That wire should be purple.It's for the speed snesor.You could hook it up to the clutch switch or the hand brake lever.That way your car will shut off when you push the clutch in or the hand brake down.

Ihave the e-brake wire setup, but the instruction book talks about an automatic timer setting that needs an extra wire run to somewhere. Then again that option may already be in place, and I don't even know it. How do you have your timer set?

That automatic counter starts to count up once you start to drive.If you stop it counts down.When you turn your off it sets that time in timer.I.ve tried it once to work(30 miles)it gave me a time of 6.? min.
So what I did is I set my timer to:
1.A-L = 1.30 min.
which I use for driving very short distances
2.P1 = 3.00 min.
which I use for driving around town
3.P2 = 5.00 to 10.00 min.
which I use for trips(out of town) depending on how for I drive
I hope this helps you out.

Here is the low-down on the greddy tt:
The wiring harness takes care of the units functioning. Now there are 2 wires left, one of them attaches to the e-brake or the clutch and the other attaches to the speed sensor in the ecu. I only tapped the e-brake one because no one is driving off in my car if the brake is up. And I am too lazy to venture into the ecu wiring.
Additionally, the auto mode on the tt has nothing to do with either of these wires. You probably noticed that the tt measures voltage, hold select while the tt is on and it will read voltage for you. I am quite certain that the reason the voltage is there is so that the tt can take a guess at your rpm. The reason for the rpm guess is so that it can add time in auto mode. A-L and A-H have different rpm start times, I dont know the exact rpm.
To set the rpm on the tt, turn off the tt but have the car running. Press and hold the power button for about 5 sec. Eventually some numbers will pop up and that is your rpm. You need to set it with the cars rpm. Use select and timer to set it. Once done turn off the tt and now the rpms are set. Now the auto modes will work how you want them to.
Any questions?

the TT reading voltage has nothing to do with the RPMs. The speed sensor is there as another way to turn the car off if it moves. if you dont have the parking brake wire connected. While setting the RPM have your car Idle steady between 2000-2500 RPMs.

Okay Okay Okay, how should I know but when I thought about it, it made sense. I just didnt think a wire with the rpm reading would be in that harness. Is there one? Do you know?

WOW......I found my GReddy TT manual.
The wires in this description came with the TT not the other Harness
The wires used for the Speed Sensor and Parking Brake come with the TT. There is a 4 pin connector and a 2 pin Connector. The 4 pin connects to the harness. The 2 pin connector has a Brown and purple wire. The brown goes to the Parking Brake. The Purple goes to the Speed Sensor. After looking at the manual it doesnt realy say how it reads the RPM's.

Right, so I guess its a deadlock. But i just figured it was the voltage because I dont see what would need to know the rpms with regards to the cars ignition. That is the only other place the info could come from of course... very interesting.... ;)

well the volts stays about constant when the car is running. about 12 volts at idle around 14 when driving around. so there probably a wire in the harness that somehow is connected to the tach wires somewhere. thats how the TT adjust time in auto mode

Thanks guys I just wasn't sure if I needed the speedo wire for the automatic timming, but these answers sure helped out a lot of other questions too.

Hooking up the speed wire (purple) is easy to do. If you want your auto timer to display your speed, rpms, clock 0-200m, 0-400m, and other stuff you can hook it up to the speed wire comming from pin 86 on 2g and pin 18 on 1g of the ecu harness. I have a 2g and the harness is located to the right of the gas pedal behind the plastic cover which goes all the way beside the seat. You only need to remove a couple screws and that's it. It took me about 20 minutes to hook up my speed wire and put the panel back on. Good luck.
Refer to http://www.vfaq.com/FAQlocator-electrical.html for diagrams of your ecu harness.

9 months late for you to read, 9 months early for the next person looking for help. Just because the forum is old, doesn't mean it's gone. People may still look on it for help.

I realize that. I was just trying to be funny. Its not often someone posts a message to a almost 2 year old thread.
