View Full Version : Got some new T28/28 pump gas times..
Well I finally decided to see what the lil T28 can do on pump gas with no boost leaks. The bad thing is that this huge 24*10*3.5" FMIC is probably killing it's performance since it dosen't seem to like more then 17psi. Either way it ran a 13.4 @ 102.2mph on 92 octane. My 60ft sucked a big 1.92 60ft since my car is torque less with the cams and stock TC. Not bad for the Automatic I guess. And defenetly preaty strong for being a old T28/28 with over 30kmiles on it. This turbo has ran flawlessly, and tonight it's coming off, and I'm adding a PTE 50 trim on there.

very impressive......im just curious as to why you didnt spray it??? also what are your plans for the pte 50trim as far as hp and quartermile times go????
I didn't spray it cause I didn't think it would run much different then last time. I'm also running stock internals and I didn't want to abuse it more then I already have been.
It actually ran slower on race gas with the big FMIC compared to the supra smic and lots of boost leaks, but ironically it ran faster on pump with it. I think the big fmic is just to much for the little turbo at high boost.
On the 50 trim I'd be happy with 110mph traps on pump and 114mph on race gas. We'll see I guess.

im sure you will be able to trap that high cosidering you car seems to be in somewhat good shape and such, is the new 50trim internal or externally gated, and do you plan on adding some bigger injectors or maybe head work in the future or are you poor like me and just gonna save for the next mod pay check by pay check?? hehehe:D
also a while back did you post some vids of you running a wrx and maybe a z28 or some sort of fbody????
It's internally gated.. My buddies internally gated PTE 50 trim held 15psi to redline. I don't plan on running any less then 20psi so that's not even an issue. I'm planning on a 1g head next, but I'm poor like you :D .. So we'll see when that happens. I actually make most of my mod money from working on other DSMs.
Pulled out my T28 but the guy who wanted to buy it backed out cause it has a bit of shaft play, only needs a rebuild to be like new though. I have the T25 in there for now, the 50 trim will go in in next week when the install kit gets here. I've done so many turbo swaps I can do one in three hours now.
I'm also going to try running on the 550s at first, I have them set up at -28% through my power band with the T28. So hopefully it'll be enough for now. But if it dosen't work out well I'll get some 660s.
The vid you saw was me running my buddies Camaro SS. That was back when I had stock smic, 50 shot, on pump gas. He's SS runs a 12.4 @ 112mph. I had him off the launch for a while on that run though.

eyh i have pulled my turbo off a few times its gotten to be an easy job now.....but anyway it sounds like your gonna have one hell of a setup, good luck with it and keep us updated maybe even a few more vids;)
