View Full Version : What kind of fuel system tuning do you use?

There are a lot of choices out there these days for tuning your DSM which is great. What kind of fuel system do you use?
Or are you one of those guys who threw in a Walbro 255 pump and think that will do? :dunno: :P

LOL... can't vote for 3 items, so I went with S-AFC. I also have an AFPR and a TMO chip (though that doesn't do anything specifically for fuel tuning, besides getting rid of fuel cut).

:dunno: :D

I have no fuel tuning, but in the near future I'll be looking at the S-AFC II.

i have the walbro 255 hp fp in my car, but only cause my stock one went out and walbro was cheaper than stock and better.

There are more available units than what are listed, I have used Electromotive's TEC II, 3 and a DELPHI unit. I plan to try an AEM so I voted for it.

Agree. I voted for the already beaten S-AFC. I will be going with Microtech soon.

Tom,
You left the HKS VPC and the HKS GCC out.:P

:(

You should continue fine tuning your S-AFC and forget about that Microshit, err Microtech stuff. If you want a nice fuel management system, move on to the tried and proved DSMlink.

I'm tuning with a PMS. Had it for 3 years now. Installed the GM Maft in March, and thats what I voted for. Probably only a handful of PMS users in the DSM community anyway.

I think that there might be a problem with the poll. I will check with Tom to see if something is up.;)

I bought a safc and an e-manage and decided to go with the e-manage, but I know very few people who tune their dsms with the e-manage. I also have the profec e-01 as well so I don't have to run a laptop in my car. I have installed it, including the ignition and injector harnesses, but have not begin to tune. Anyone with a e-manage that knows what their doing want to pm me? We'll see how the emanage works and then maybe I'll move to the aem.

Before I got the SAFC I hacked the MAF, raised the fuel pressure and watched my pocketlogger to see what was going on. I know it's crude, but it was good enough to get my AWD into the 12's for less than $700 worth of mods!

Now I'm using an EPROM ecu and I'm burning my own chips. I still have a SAFC to do some fine tuning on the fly. I use an AFPR to set the pressure where I want, but I don't really use it to tune anymore.

I voted AEM EMS because I have one in my EVO.
I use an Electromotive TEC3r on my 91 TSi.
However I do use an AEM wideband for both systems.

There are pros and cons to both, but I am happier with the TEC3r.
PM me if you need specifics, I don't want to get off topic.

I have been pondering the purchase of the AEM EMS. Won't I be able to run without a MAS with that?

Currently not using any, but I'm mid-way through an AFPR install. Damn fuel rail stripped it's thread for one of the bolts =/ Gotta find a tap and die set.

Down the line, if I go with anything more, it would be an SAFC2.

I did things the opposite of most DSMers. I actually installed all my "supporting" mods before upgrading the turbo. I realize this is the way it's supposed to be done, but who really does it that way, right?:)

I completely upgraded my fuel system when I still had the 14B. I've since upgraded to an EVO3 16G. Anyway, here's what I'm running: re-wired Walbro255, AFPR, hiflowFF, -06 lines (both feed & return and both from tank to rail), bored-out stock rail, 780's. I tune with the MAFT but I also have a custom chip (to eliminate fuel cut, adjust fuel and timing maps, etc).

Thats the route I'm going too. I have: dsmlink, arp head studs, mitsu mls head gasket, walbro 255lph, aeromotive afpr, 3'' thermal r&d turboback, intake, 720cc injectors, greddy ebc and I'm sure I've missed some stuff too. Trying to get all my supporting mods out of the way, I am getting closer to my turbo upgrade!
