A week later when I moved the car out, I see a 5" oil stain on the driveway.
I had no leaks befoer the changes. Took it back to the shop and I went underneath with the tech and could see no drips from the drain or fill plugs. There was some splatter on the drive shaft. Another week later I drive it again and more spots on the concrete. But still no apparent drips when I get under and look. Could they have overfilled the transfer case? Would an overfill blow out a seal? I'm stumped. Thanks.

A bit of history, this is a 95 TSi with right at 400 miles a new engine (Overbore.com) and rebuilt stock turbo. The car is completely stock except for the following:

Balance Shaft removal kit (done on all overbore engines)
ACT Xact 11lbs flywheel
Fidenza 3.2 clutch

Been following the break-in procedure pretty closely, never revved over 4500 rpm (might have hit 5000 a couple of times) been avoiding the highways and keeping it under 55mph, never take it over 3500 rpm until the engine has reached operating temperature, etc.

The car has been fine with the exception of a rather annoying idle surge that settles down after a minute or so and a loping idle (almost sounds like I have a cam installed) that I've possibly incorrectly blamed on bad gas that fouled the injectors.

To clean out the injectors I've included a bottle of seafoam with every fill up except for the last tank of gas I put in there the night before last. With each fill-up the idle has noticeably improved but as of this morning still had a slight surge and lope.

Today it all went to hell. On my way to lunch pulling out onto a main road the engine started to choke at about 2500 rpm and would not climb above 3000 without stalling. The car has no power and will barely move in first gear. It starts and idles, though the idle is much rougher than it was earlier and as soon as it starts the boost gauge reads almost full boost.

Any ideas?

I was hoping I wouldn't have to go at it from underneath the car and remove the O2 housing (thus requiring new gaskets as well) but is that the best way?

If there's some way to do it without getting under the car, the heat shielding, radiator fan, dip stick, and some part of the AC system are all in the way, among other things. Advice please? Thanks.

I let my car warm up before I jammed. About 4-5 miles down the road my Spyders temp gauge reads 1/4 the way up down from 1/2 where every DSM I have ever owned sits. After I turned the heater off it climbed back to normal.

I need my heater, after 6 years in the sub tropics im a pussy.

About a year ago someone stole my SAFC out of my car. It wouldn't have been so bad it they would have just broke the window- First they tried to pry out the triangular rear window on the passenger side and they tried to pry off the sunroof. The sunroof is broken and there is a small spot on the roof that is damaged as well. The sunroof leaks but I got a used OEM one from DSM Graveyard (awesome vendor by the way). I need to pull out the old broken sunroof and fix the damaged spot on the roof, but I was wondering if anyone has swapped out a sunroof. I'm just want to know what to expect and what i might need. I searched but couldn't find anything related to an OEM swap. Is there a rubber "gasket" or seal between the roof and the car? If so should I replace it and where can I get one?

I had the flange welded onto a greddy upper ic pipe-I have the greddy front mount ic so I used greddy upper pipes, but looking back I probably should have made my own for a lot cheaper. Anyway, in order to make the bov fit under the hood I had to cut off part of the fuse box bracket and now it is just anchored on one side. I guess I will be moving the fuse box to the glove compartment in the near future. I also had to rotate the upper ic pipe a little so the bov is tilted towards the front of the car. Even with my "modifications" it barely fit, but it works fine. The tial bov is an awesome product, but is a bad combo with the greddy ic pipes.

The problem is, is the engine when started, idles at 2500+-rpm until the temp needle is sitting straight up. We have done the following: Checked the BISS, boost leak test (found a massive leak at a connection but fixed it), ISC test (checked out fine), cleaned throttle body. There were some other things as well but I forget at the moment. I'm not sure if this will help in anyway but, I have a recirculating setup and when I blow off, idle drops to about 500+- for a couple seconds :( I can get pics and video if needed:dunno: Thank you for all the help!!

I think it needs to be read, in its entirety.

Then you have these people down below... Everyone needs to call their senator and explain to them in not so nice terms that if this shit passes they will not vote for them when it comes to any sort of re-election. They need to make it clear and they need to do it now.

The American people need to make themselves heard in every way possible to those running this country, the people we elected, that we will not have any more of this shit added to bills in the future otherwise we want them out of office. This is ruining this country, its wasting money we dont have, its one of many of the causes of why our country is so fucked up right now.

The $100 Million Health Care Vote?

ABC News' Jonathan Karl reports:

What does it take to get a wavering senator to vote for health care reform?

Here’s a case study.

On page 432 of the Reid bill, there is a section increasing federal Medicaid subsidies for “certain states recovering from a major disaster.”

The section spends two pages defining which “states” would qualify, saying, among other things, that it would be states that “during the preceding 7 fiscal years” have been declared a “major disaster area.”

I am told the section applies to exactly one state: Louisiana, the home of moderate Democrat Mary Landrieu, who has been playing hard to get on the health care bill.

In other words, the bill spends two pages describing would could be written with a single world: Louisiana. (This may also help explain why the bill is long.)

Senator Harry Reid, who drafted the bill, cannot pass it without the support of Louisiana’s Mary Landrieu.

How much does it cost? According to the Congressional Budget Office: $100 million.

Here’s the incredibly complicated language:

SEC. 2006. SPECIAL ADJUSTMENT TO FMAP DETERMINATION FOR CERTAIN STATES RECOVERING FROM A MAJOR DISASTER.

Section 1905 of the Social Security Act (42 U.S.C. 1396d), as amended by sections 2001(a)(3) and
2001(b)(2), is amended— (1) in subsection (b), in the first sentence, by striking ‘‘subsection (y)’’ and inserting ‘‘subsections (y) and (aa)’’; and (2) by adding at the end the following new subsection:

‘‘(aa)(1) Notwithstanding subsection (b), beginning January 1, 2011, the Federal medical assistance percentage for a fiscal year for a disaster-recovery FMAP adjustment State shall be equal to the following:
‘(A) In the case of the first fiscal year (or part of a fiscal year) for which this subsection applies to the State, the Federal medical assistance percentage determined for the fiscal year without regard to this subsection and subsection (y), increased by 50 percent of the number of percentage points by which the Federal medical assistance percentage determined for the State for the fiscal year without regard to this subsection and subsection (y), is less than the Federal medical assistance percentage determined for the State for the preceding fiscal year after the application of only subsection (a) of section 5001 of Public Law 111–5 (if applicable to the preceding fiscal year) and without regard to this subsection, subsection (y), and subsections (b) and (c) of section 5001 of Public Law 111–5.

‘‘(B) In the case of the second or any succeeding fiscal year for which this subsection applies to the State, the Federal medical assistance percentage determined for the preceding fiscal year under this subsection for the State, increased by 25 percent of the number of percentage points by which the Federal medical assistance percentage determined for the State for the fiscal year without regard to this subsection and subsection (y), is less than the Federal medical assistance percentage determined for the State for the preceding fiscal year under this subsection.

‘‘(2) In this subsection, the term ‘disaster-recovery FMAP adjustment State’ means a State that is one of
the 50 States or the District of Columbia, for which, at any time during the preceding 7 fiscal years, the President has declared a major disaster under section 401 of the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act and determined as a result of such disaster that every county or parish in the State warrant individual and public assistance or public assistance from the Federal Government under such Act and for which— ‘‘(A) in the case of the first fiscal year (or part of a fiscal year) for which this subsection applies to the State, the Federal medical assistance percentage determined for the State for the fiscal year without regard to this subsection and subsection (y), is less than the Federal medical assistance percentage determined for the State for the preceding fiscal year after the application of only subsection (a) of section 5001 of Public Law 111–5 (if applicable to the preceding fiscal year) and without regard to this subsection, subsection (y), and subsections (b) and (c) of section 5001 of Public Law 111–5, by at least 3 percentage points; and ‘‘(B) in the case of the second or any succeeding fiscal year for which this subsection applies to the State, the Federal medical assistance percentage determined for the State for the fiscal year without regard to this subsection and subsection (y), is less than the Federal medical assistance percentage determined for the State for the preceding fiscal year under this subsection by at least 3 percentage points.

‘‘(3) The Federal medical assistance percentage determined for a disaster-recovery FMAP adjustment State under paragraph (1) shall apply for purposes of this title (other than with respect to disproportionate share hospital payments described in section 1923 and payments under this title that are based on the enhanced FMAP described in 2105(b)) and shall not apply with respect to payments under title IV (other than under part E of title IV) or payments under title XXI.’’.

I have a 1995 Talon TSI awd 5 speed with a full 6 bolt swap, now i've only had this car for about 5 months and it was not running when I bought it (guy told me it was a bad MAF hahaha *cough*bullshit*cough*).

Anyways, I finally got it running, and it ran pretty darn good for one night, didn't overheat, had decent power after I realized I had forgotten to plug in one of the injectors haha, and it had a pretty big boost leak that I was going to try and find, so I took it home, parked it and let the turbo timer cool it off, and when I went out the next morning..... Nothing, it would turn over but no start at all, spark fuel and timing are fine, but i hear a strange noise from my valve cover, so I yank it off and find that one of the rockers on the intake side of the #4 cylinder is missing.

I found it resting down in a crevice of the head after a minute of looking and popped it back on.... uhhh ohhh, it just fell right in by hand, leaving about two 16ths of an inch gap between the rocker and the cam lobe, when I give it a nudge with my finger it just falls right back out, the other rocker on the same cylinder also has a big gap, it doesn't quite fall out but it wiggles like crazy, all of them seem to but as you get closer to the timing belt the gaps get smaller, and it's only on the intake side, the exhaust side is fine.

So I figured this was a good time to throw in the new rockers and revised lifters I had for it.... Didn't change a damn thing

I was really wanting to get the König Afterburner's, but these look a lot like them and are a lot cheaper, not to mention Maxxim is made by König. What do you guys think? And should I go 17in or 18in? Also does anyone have pictures of dsm's with these?

I hooked up my old pioneer head unit today, its a year or two old, and it has had a stumping problem for awhile. The radio and iPod functions work flawlessly, but when I put a CD in, original or burnt, it will very rarely play it. I have tried cleaner disks and an air blower, no luck. The first time i turned it on today it played a CD but not after the first time. It was a pretty expensive stereo so I figured I'd try to fix it before I replace it. I just have no ideas on what it could be other than a loose connection internally. Any help/ideas much appreciated.
