Hey guys, I've been trying to start up my car lately since my 30a IGN fuse seems to not be blowing as fast when I crank the car, but I almost had her going until what seems like my starter is making a grinding noise while I crank it. Is this the starter? And if so what is the issue with it? I just had my starter rebuilt.
I've come to the conclusion that the owner before me converted this car from automatic to Manual. The wires for the auto tranny are still on the harness...
Pull off the inspection plate at the bottom of the trans and check out the condition of the ring gear, If it looks good, pull out the starter and check out the engagement gear. If that also looks good, you have an alignment issue. Unless your car starts and still has a grinding noise - then it could be something entirely different.
Update: The grinding noise is only made when the fuel pump is unplugged.
