cold start issue?

Alright so I've got a 94 eagle talon tsi awd, and this damn car just won't start in the winter time. I did a search on here and came up with the need of a new temp sensor, however I want to be sure that is exactly what I need before buying it. I've deleted all emission on the vehicle, including the boost solenoid and egr valve, plus I'm running the short vacuum diagram I found on here several months ago. I've tried running the FPR solenoid and it makes no difference. Right now it's about five below outside and it's not even firing it seems like. Usually I've gotta work it into idle as it'll fire once or twice and progress from there and the I've got to help it idle for about fifteen seconds so that it won't actually die. Then it idles rough as hell until the check engine light comes on, which I'm sure is because I'm not recirculating my bov, which I'd love to recirc if I had the hose to do it. After it warms up just a little bit everything is perfectly fine though, it'll just drop to its death if I let the rpms drop from about 3-4 grand. It's got a ACT lightweight flywheel in it as well. I've just finished rebuilding the engine and only have about 4 thousand miles on it. It's just been getting cold enough outside to where it won't start, just turns over all day.

Thanks for the help everyone,
Kyle

Re: cold start issue?

Sounds like you have quite a few things you need to button up. If you have a logger it is easy to check the temperature sensor, or I think you can do it with some hot water and a volt meter. First things first, do the obvious stuff if you havent yet. Check for major boost leaks, fuel pressure and that you are getting spark. Check back in.

Re: cold start issue?

Yeah I found out that it has to be the temperature sensor. Pouring hot water on it resolved the cold start issue. Now I've got a completely random misfire. Seems like the CPS is going out or something. I'm hoping that replacing the water sender and putting a new o2 sensor in will fix the upcoming issue, but who knows?
