Alright, little bit of background info. My car currently has replacement stock struts with Tein S-Techs and I LOVE the ride quality. Potholes and bumps don't rip my teeth out or require spinal repair surgery. Little small bumps aren't an issue, and speedbumps I don't even have to think twice about.
But, the time has come where I need a stiffer suspension for the track, because launching at the track succeeds in the rear end squatting so bad the tires rub on the bottoms of the struts, and I've got videos of me damn near pulling the front left wheel off the ground due to squattage.
I need a good spring/strut combo that will let me keep the ride quality I love so much, but allow me to stiffen it up at the track. This car will NEVER see autocross or anything other than street use and the occasional weekend drag strip test 'n' tune.
I've been looking at these. http://www.streettunedmotorsports.co..._coilovers.htm I know they are super pricey, but I've heard a LOT about how they can be adjusted to ride just like stock, or super stiff for the track with ease. I'm eyeballing the Megan coilovers as well.
Any suggestions for other combos that will do what I'm asking? Even if it's just a shock/spring combo, or a full blown coilover kit. Car is a 1G AWD Automatic if that matters.

Im actually doing the same thing as you. I got some agx's and coilover collars and had a local shop make me coils with the spring rates i wanted. I just have to find the time to put them on.

I have no doubt the KYB AGX/Pro Kit combo is a great setup, I just want to have a soft ride for the street, and a stiff suspension for the track.
Basically I want my cake and eat it too.

I understand wanting to try and keep the car under control while launching but as long as the car isn't bouncing or otherwise unstable during a launch, sitting down on its ass is fine for a street car IMO. Most powerful awd cars will spin the front tires during launch without a welded center diff or VCE for a few moments until the VCU can do it's job, but the car sitting back on the rear tires = more traction, at the rear tires, where the diff has an LSD.
Besides, its going to be almost impossible to keep both front wheels from spinning on street tires as the front passenger side is very light compared to the drivers side with the engine and driver so even if you could keep the car level with a welded center diff, unless you have a welded front diff you are going to lose allot of power at the front wheels through the passenger front wheel. You might as well use the weight shift to keep both rear wheels as planted as possible.
Well, it does bounce a little bit. It almost hops actually, but the track prep was complete SHIT that night and it never did it again so I'll attribute it to a bad track. SLEEPS on here saw the car do it in person as he was at the track. But it honestly wasn't bad. I was cutting 1.7 60's on crappy ass bottom of the barrel 205/60 Kuhmos(the cheapest tire they made) with like 1/4 tread left with this suspension setup, and it would spin really good during the launch at the track. On the street it was just insane. I was worried it would really scrub/have dire effects if I was to throw some 225 or 235/60's on it, but what you say makes sense. Maybe I'll save the $900-$1500 and spend it on something else.
Regardless, in the future I do want to upgrade the suspension, so all this info is great to know. It does ease my mind a little bit though that basically it's a good/normal thing that it's doing.

I'd go with the agx/prokit setup again without a doubt. Make sure you don't have seized bushings during install and you'll be surprised with the ride quality.
I love my BC Racing coils on my fit. I have Ksports on the unicorn but haven't driven on them. All my friends that have BC love them. You can order custom spring rates (free) and they come with dampening adjustment also... Hit me up on FB and ill tag the guy/shop that can get you the best deal on them when you are ready.

I have a set of Tein SS coilovers on my 1990 GSX and love them. the ride is slightly harder the stock when set to the softest setting. I live i NYC and the streets are in bad shape. The ride is not to bad. The one thing I had to do is get a rear camber kit (Engalls) because there is not enough adjustment with the stock suspension .
I used an AGX/Sportline combo on a few of my 1Gs and liked it very much. The AGXs do tend to make the ride a little rough, even on the softest setting. It is nice to stiffen the back end up while racing though.
The only thing I remember from that night was the super awsome valve cover, and you waiting 9 years after the green light to take off. Lulz. But seriously though, I dont remember the ride quality. That track does kinda suck though.

I had to spool the turbo up. Hard to do with timing at 0* due to rich knock and cylinder three having 70-80 compression(only discovered this afterwords), dick. Still ran 8.3's though.
I do remember one dude in the stands talking about "he's going to blow the head clean off that car if he keeps doing that" lmfao.
