Anybody running alcohol injection on these cars? I have an alky injection setup on my GN. I went from running 16 lbs of boost with 18 degrees of timing on 93 octane to 21 lbs of boost with 26 degrees of timing with alcohol. It made a world of difference. It pays for itself in no time when you consider $7.50 a gallon for race gas and $30 for a new O2 sensor which lasts about 50 miles on leaded gas.

I am in the process of installing mine on my '91 GSX. I am home building it from tips and plans from the GN boards!! I am hoping I can get the same gains you've seen. Every little bit helps in the street wars!!!

excuse my ignorance, but what exactly is alcohol injection? Apparently, it is some way of mixing alcohol with fuel to essentially raise the octane, but how is this system accomplished? is it a custom thing or are kits sold?

I am also thinking seriously about buying an alcy kit from a guy in Virg". I have friends who race GNs with alcy and they love it. Like you said its the best investment to offset the cost of running race gas.

Alcy lower the temp in the combustion chamber therefore allowing you to run higer boost=more power output! Most sys
inject the alcy as a mist before teh throttle body so by the time it reaches the combust..chamb...it would have already evap...

Pros...not corrosive like water
helps clean you chamber etc...etc...much more....

BTW...I think if you have an alcy setup you will not need to buy the outrageous FMIC because the alcy has the same function!

This will tell you everything you ever wanted to know about alky injection.

The most popular kit with the GNs and several 3000 GTs and Stealth vr4s is the Stever Chelupsa kit.

I have it , when i had it set up on my side mount, it got rid of almost all my knock! I was seeing about 12-15 before and droped it to liek 4 or 5 kncok sum. I also did some test at the track. I ran a 13.9 with it hooked up, let the car cool back down and unhooked it and ran a 14.1, another thing that is impresive about this is that the second run felt better, the shifts were smother.

Where or from who can these kit's be purchased??? I would love to push my boost up further. Sound's like da shit. Here's a question.....Couldn't you just pour some alky in your gas tank or would it ruin the pump?????

If you go to the link I provided above and go to the bottom of the page there are links to different kits. There is also a link to the DO IT YOURSELF kit. The most popular kit among the GNs and TT mitsubishis is the Steve Chelupsa kit. That is the kit I have on my GN and would recomend it to anyone.
