Coolant Bubbling

Shameful, but car sat outside for a year in the elements unused. Finally took it to a mechanic and he went over and did what needed to be done to a car that sits for so long. Fluids, brakes, tires, etc.

Drove it home and it drove nicely except when I parked it I could hear the coolant bubbling and overflowing, but the car is not overheating.

Replace the thermostat. Still the same symptoms. Could it be the radiator cap. I think when he replaced it with a cheap one.

Had the head gasket done about a year before it was put into it's year of hibernation.

Any insights would be extremely helpful. Time to sell and I need to make sure I am selling a car that doesn't have any problems (other than the usual associated with a modified DSM).

Thanks,
Mike

Re: Coolant Bubbling

Try replacing it with an OEM one. Rad caps cause weird stuff if they're bad.

Was the coolant changed and the system flushed recently?

Try the radiator cap, I've had that same problem. Don't use a cheepy use an OEM one.

Re: Coolant Bubbling

Yes. Coolant was changed/flushed. Guess I'll order an OEM cap.

Pointers to where I can buy one online?

Re: Coolant Bubbling

Could be the head gasket maybe? If so the bubbles coming out would smell like exhaust or similar. It would smell different than regular coolant.
