92 talon awd turbo.
it has always had a little difficulty shifting from 1 to 2 gear or just getting into reverse.

after driving today i noticed it was hard to get into any gear without being stopped

I tried adjusting the clutch pedal out thinking maybe it was not pushing it in far enough.
After i turned the screw a few times out (there were not many threads on it anyway) i started the car and went to shift into any gear and it will not go

before I tried to adjust it I noticed when I put the clutch in and put it in first gear waiting at a light. I could hear a rattle or grinding sound only when car is on and in gear with clutch pushed in.

my guess is the clutch master cylinder does that sound right.
I am not low on any fluids.

I changed the tranny fluid a few weeks ago.
synchromesh

Do these cars ever stop breaking, this car is more unreliable than my mustang was and it was a race only car!!!!!!!!!! lots of hp 150 shot of nos.

how come that before i adjusted clutch screw out a few turns it would shift when car is on and after I adjusted the rod out some it does not shift when car is on.

the car ran fine this morning, went out to tune and after about 1hr driving was hard to shift into gear.

got home adjusted clutch lever out. tried it car on and would no go into gear.

then i adjusted lever in and now same thing

well not leaking any fluid and the shift fork seems to be pushing far it does not look like it could be pushed any farther.

so new clutch, pressure plate and throw out bearing time

HOW MUCH DOES THE TRANNY WEIGHT SINCE I HAVE TO REMOVE IT TO PUT NEW CRAP IN..

BOY I JUST LOVE MY CAR POS

Before you go and do that ... check your crank end play.

Has the tranny been off recently? If so (or even if it wasn't), make sure all the bell housing bolts are on tight. If not, it can cause the tranny to separate from the block a little. I had this happen to me once and I've seen others that had the same problem.

tranny has been on for 15000 miles i bought it few months ago have a recipts for rebuild of tranny engine and t case.

The throw out bearing is only 15000 miles old and was oem.

Is there any thing I can do to test things before I take it out.

I looked at the clutch fork only the part sticking out, It seems to be moving at full push. Should I try to just unbolt the slave and put a shim in there to see if i can get it to push out enough.

Or did I possibly bend the fork or break the pivot ball? Is there any way to check without removing tranny.

It looks like it might be easier to just pull engine instead or transaxle.
That looks like a whole lot of work and lot of time to do.

If I unbolt the slave and move the clutch fork by hand will I be able to tell anything.

This is my first man trans I have worked on.:tat:

ok I went out to push the car closer to the garage to work on. well I was parked at a slope on gravel and couldn't push it.

So I decided to go ahead and shift it into reverse and start the car with the brake on well it didn't catch the first time, it is always a little difficult to engauge reverse. Worked great then before I went to turn the car off to shift into first I tried it, It shifted fine in all gears with car running!!!!!!!

could anything have been jammed and come loose not it seems to be working just fine.

Before I go road test it I would like some opinions.

I have no clutch chatter seems to be not slipping not shure though.

I know there is a search button but it is not helping could someone please
give me your thoughts.

good or bad

thanks brad:)

hi all:

I took mine to garage I got exactly the same problem. He is a talon specialiste and he said it is the transmission fork. There is a pivot in there that gets used with time and u need to add a washer so it can push the through out bearing properlly. If I knew this I could have saved 400$ but for now I am sick of it some letting him do it for me. Once you change a clutch or a transmission ALWAYS change the fork at the same time.
Hope this will help

This friday he took it off and he said it needs a new one but to answer your question yes you can shim it and the garage said that he did it previously and it did hold but since I have put an act2600 it is better to get a new one. extremepsi.com sells a brand new one for 57$ free shipped. I think it isjust not worth it to take a chance in my book unless the garage guarantee you his work. Hope it is not that for you. But before doing this try to adjust the clutch master cyclinder and if it does not work then it is the fork for sure. I hate these DSM if I knew it before putting things together I would have bought a new fork. but now it is too late and I am sick of IT...

well I found out what it was a spring from the clutch disk must have got jammed. After I got it to shift to move the car I found the spring under the cars inspection plate.

Going to pull trans to find out the damage.
will probably resurface flywheel and buy act 2600.

Thanks for the help
