Ok, this is not a idle surge thread. I've spend all day swapping in/out q45's and tps' and finally got everything running good. My problem is I set my idle when the car was rather cold, so once it was warmed up it was idling higher(1200-1400 but no surge). So I got the car to operating temperature and set the idle (850-900) but now on cold start up it idles so low it wont stay running. I just don't know what to do. The TPS is fully functional as well. No boost leaks, not running lean/rich. The car is healthy as can be other than this.

Adjusting the idle screw whether hot/cold affects the idle in respect to which direction you change it.
And I just want to make it clear it doesn't surge one bit. It has a very smooth idle.
Right, and I know you don't have surge or boost leaks (which I ruled out the IACV if you're running one), I'm thinking that maybe when you set your idle, you had the BIS too far in or out. Since the car was warm it might have seemed like it was idling ok but maybe you didn't leave yourself enough room for adjustment when the car is cold? I'm not saying that IS your problem, just trying to give a little insight on what helped me when I had idling issues.
Surging is usually caused when the IACV is stuck slighly open. You will either need a new one, or I have an old one you can pay for shipping and rebuild it yourself (I've heard there are kits out there).
Do you have an isc?
If not on a cold startup, hold the gas down to catch the idle for like 20-30seconds then let go and it should be fine.
Another reason I stayed with the stock tb.
I'm having the same exact problem with my 95 gst with a 98 motor.. has anybody figured this out yet?
His car runs fine when it is warm, but has problems running on cold start-ups. This is a common problem for people who block off their idle air control units, or are using Throttle Bodies from different vehicles.
Are those the symptoms you are having? If not you are looking at a boost leak idle surge related issue.
What are you using to tune your car? With EFI the computer computer "ignores" the o2 sensor and adds more fuel until the car is warm. The reason why cars usually idle higher when its cold out, then idle down once warm. Somewhat of an "EFI choke" i guess in comparison to carb. engines. Your car however is doing the opposite. My guess is that the computer is not adding that extra fuel. And that is why it is stumbling when its cold, just like a carburated engine would when started without the choke.
I have heard of the coolant temp sensor going bad and casuing this problem without it reading -40*. Then sensor is cheap from autozone and is worth a shot.
