quick question.

Hello all. got a couple of quick questions. what controls the boost on my car?? Its a 90 plymoth laser rs-t. its vacuum isnt it. also what would cause my car to boost to soon. maybe a boost leak? but i got on vfaq.com and i built the pressure tester and i fixed the only leak there was. thanks for the help.

On a stock 1G DSM, the car uses a Boost Control Solenoid to control the factory boost level of 10-12 psi. This solenoid is pluged into the cars harness right next to the air box, it also has vacume lines.

And about the boost too soon problem... Im not aware of that being a problem

DSM's boost hits pretty hard. In newer cars the wastegate is designed differently so you don't notice it as much, but the sooner it hits the better, sounds like you have a turbo that's in good shape.

if you don't like the way it is, you can turn the boost down and it won't hit so hard when it comes on, but the tradeoff is you'll have less power.
