Car WAY out of tune wuth safc 2

Ok guys i just got a dsm, has a big 16g, 550's, 2.5" exhaust, ported 2g o2, and an safc 2. right now the boost is set at around 15 psi i belive. The car is way out of tune though. I do not have a logger yet, getting tommorow if it got mailed. Anyway, is there anything i can do to shut the safc down? i bought the car this way and it is way out of wack. I do not want to mess with it as i have no idea how i would do it without a logger......Is there a way to just erase it, zero it, or shut it down to where i can drive the car and tune it when i get my logger?

what kind of correcttion do you think i would need with 550's? The car does run pretty rich by the way.

Now how do you know the car does not run rich without a logger or wideband... You can't always go by seeing smoke

Re: Car WAY out of tune wuth safc 2

exhaust fumes smell like gas, mostly what i noticed was the gas mileage which was 14.47 and that was slightly spirited but nothing to much. I understand boost eats fuel but i try to stay out.

its coo the way it is for right now i think... put your boost down to 13-15 and try not to push the car until you get it fully tuned...

With larger injectors like you have you can't just zero out the afc. You need it for the injector correction. Bump the low to -12% or so as a guess point. Get a logger and learn to tune it yourself from that point. Leave the high at 0 and you will run rich. You really need to take some fuel out there too. -10% should be safe until you can get a logger on it.

so run the low at around -12% and the high at 0%? or did you mean take -10% out of the hi also?

Re: Car WAY out of tune wuth safc 2

Sounds like my car. It's very rich, infact I failed emissions twice because of it. Although, the first time I forgot to turn the AFC down, and today I forgot to lower the settings for 1,000 rpm. Both were my fault but it's still rich. My friend complained about it after I put 10 car lengths on his LT1.

Do what I'm doing, save up and get DSM Link.

Exactly what I was saying, without the exact numbers...With larger injectors, just zero-ing out the safc will not help you out, you would be running rich and boggy at low-hi rpm's...But, you should idle and run a little better if you are taking out fuel to compensate for the larger fuel setup, and then taking a little bit about up top should help also

I still think un-tuned 15psi is a little risky but as long as you keep your boosting conservative and get that logger on soon, you should be fine...

Post some logs after you get that logger

Re: Car WAY out of tune wuth safc 2

You changed your throttle points to 0/1? Change them to 30% low and 70% high for starters. With the 0 low and 1 high, it won't even use the lo throttle correction. It will run off the highs throttle settings as soon as you touch the gas.
