1995 eclipse obd2?

I was always under the assumption that all 95 eclipses were obd2. I just recently read something about early 95's being obd1?

Im was about to order an obd2 logger, and i went to look for an obd2 port on my 95, i couldnt find anything under the dash.

unrealted, i was taking out my carpet to shampoo it, and i see what seems to be an 16 pin obd2 port under the passenger seat???

whats going on?

95s are obd2

under the pass seat? 95's are weird they have alot of stuff they was never used or changed it later models. Like the vent under the steering wheel or the weird speaker grills on the dash.
My guess is it was for a power seat?

Re: 1995 eclipse obd2?

All '95s should have the OBD-2 port. From what I've found out so far, it's more like OBD 1.9 It has the port and MOST OBD-2 things work, but it doesn't completely meet the standard (and there's a flaw that can trigger a MIL even when nothing is wrong. No recall for it due to the fact that '95 cars were not required to be OBD-2 yet). Your OBD-2 port was probably broken by a previous owner and was just pushed off to one side up there. The plug under the passenger seat is not the one you want (it's either for the power seat or the cd changer option, or both?).

Mine has an OBD-2 port and it's a very early 2g... I've got the 3000GT rear brakes and the 1g license plate bracket mount!

These guys are right. All 2Gs are OBD2.

Yeah, too bad this damn Autozone guy chipped off a part of under my steering wheel and left a mark before my friend told him where the OBD2 port actually was.

The 3000GT rear brakes are real easy. If the rear rotors are vented, then you have them

The regular 2g license plate bracket goes straight into the front bumper cover, whereas the 1g license plate bracket attaches underneath the front bumper and curves up around (from 3 studs sticking down from the bumper).

Re: 1995 eclipse obd2?

Ha, everyone see's those plugs under the seat and believes there something else...

I guarantee its for something like power seats, etc like someone listed, but Ive been with so many people who find them and start freaking out b/c of a random open plug...

My friend saw the plug and immediately assumed the previous car owner had standalone engine management and just left the plug in there ....I was like, keep dreaming...

Re: 1995 eclipse obd2?

I had the wrap around front license plate bracket on my '96. I don't know that you can use that method to determine an early 95 car.

Easiest way is the rear brake rotors. Early 95s also had one extra HVAC vent blowing at your crotch if I remember correctly.
