Greddy type S VS HKS SSQV

ok after reading the thread on the type S vs RS, it was pretty obvious that everyone prefered the type S. however, do you still prefer the type S over the HKS? i ask because im interested in getting a new BOV and these are the 2 that i was interested in.

Re: Greddy type S VS HKS SSQV

TIAL is the way to go!

As for the Type S and SSQV, i would tend to say that the HKS might be a bit better just for the fact that it's a pull type bov and won't leak overtime as the Greddy Type-S might. But thats my opinion and thoughts.

And i currently have the Greddy Type-S so i am in no means Biased with my decision.

Re: Greddy type S VS HKS SSQV

i appreciate your unbiasedness (is that a word?) i was also thinking the same about the HKS also because it has 2 valves so i would think it doesnt flutter at low boost, even though ive heard of the HKS doing that regardless. i could use more opinions. hopefully someone has both or has used both.

Depends on how much boost you plan on running. The GReddy Type-S holds boost well up to about 24psi, where I have personally seen it leak. The HKS SSQV fairs a bit better on account of its pull-type function as mentioned, but it still uses a diaphragm.

Any diaphragm has the potential to leak, and also as mentioned, the TiAL is the way to go if you choose to vent to atmosphere. Now there is an interesting new BOV made by Synapse engineering (of Missink Link MAP bypass fame) that functions like the SSQV but uses no diaphragms...

yes been waiting for that to be released. I got my type S in trade for some welding and i love it. Holds boost well, easy to adjust , and its easy to recicrculate.

Re: Greddy type S VS HKS SSQV

I'd recommend the HKS. It has held over 30psi on numberous occasions. Correct me if I am wrong but I think it has three valves...each one sounds a little different. I know the low boost valve sounds like a hissing rattle snake. This one alone turns a lot of heads. The high boost sounds beautiful.

I got a HKS on mine...
Just needs to be recirculated...
Thought about a type s but I love my HKS...
Sounds sweeter and looks like a bullet...
