I have a 87 starion fmic. I know it is not very efficient but every little bit helps here in Californian heat. Should I bother weld 2" ends to it or should I just leave the 1 3/4 " ends in place. I would like to weld the 2" pieces to it but it is so hard to find someone who can do it since it is aluminum they have to work with. I have got a couple of quotes and they ask $60 an hour to do it for me. I think it is too much especially since I know it is not going to take an hour to weld it. But they said that they charge a two hour minimum for every job they do.
That is the same thing I am looking at, but I am going to go with 2.25 pipes instead. The 1.75 pipes are just way too small. Yeah, I know that the starion has a pressure drop, but my stock 2g sidemound ic get heat soak very, very quick in the summer time. I think that with the 2.25 pipes and a nice fmic sprayer, it should be a pretty good fmic.

I ordered a 2.5 and 2" elbow for my starion, the 2.5" outlet will match my uip perfectly. Plus ill put a ic sprayer on top of that, i already have the washer resevoir and pump just need to find those bloody nozzles

So you guys think I should go with 2.25" pipes instead of 2" .I think that 2.25" pipes will barely fit since the IC is already pretty narrow.I already have a 2" UIP. What do you think. Also has anybody tried using that Durafix aluminum welding think that they advertised on TV a while ago. Is it worth it?
You can either get the elbows from rre or from http://www.burnsstainless.com.
RRE only sells the elbow(quarter of a donut) while burns sells a 16" pipe with a 90 degree elbow in the middle.

i welded 2.25 in and outs on mine, the inlet is in the same place as the stock inlet, outlet is moved down to the side, with a plate welded to cover the stock outlet hole on top. 2.25 takes some massaging but it'll fit.
one of these days i'll get some pictures of it...
