I am a new DSM owner

Well, kind of. This is my 2nd DSM (first being a 1990 i had to sell a week after i bought it 4 years ago) This car, like most DSMs, has a good story behind it. This kid i know was a drug dealer, and put $23,000 into this car when BM trans was still around, and it dynoed 460 wheel on pump. not bad, but he was going to jail about a month later and had to sell it. another friend of mine bought it for $7000. now, the body on this car was all banged up, and it had no interior. the new owner put interior in the car, and found some body panels, so now the 1992 talon is black and blue. nice. the car ended up sitting for a few years, and was sold to me for $5500. now keep in mind the car has a built motor, crower/ross, hks272s, ported head, and stage 4 trans. haltech.. you get the idea. if i knew how to post pictures i would, but i dont. anyone want to help me here? i have done a ton of work to the car to "bring it back from the dead" and i would like to share with you guys.

Welcome to the board. You seem to have picked up a nice project for yourself.

On a side note please click the link in my sig and read the forum rules with a focus on Rule #7. If you don't know why I have asked you to do so feel free to shoot me a PM.

Re: I am a new DSM owner

i guess its good to know drug dealers when you dont do drugs lol. the engine harness is cut because there is haltech in the car. makes sence, but i would have done it a lot cleaner then that. keep in mind this car was built by BMtranny. oops

Re: I am a new DSM owner

No problem. We understand that its a bit different than most other boards and it takes a bit of getting used to but in the long run it pays off.

Re: I am a new DSM owner

Let me know if you have any further issues JP.

Welcome to the forums you two noobs. Please read and learn our rules.

Looks ugly they way they cut that harness. If you can find a donor harness from the same year, there should be enough left of the ends to solder in a new harness. It will take awhile. Buy lots of electrical tape and heat shrink tubing.

Re: I am a new DSM owner

I am actually on the look out for a new harness now. If I can find one complete, with nothing cut, I will just swap the whole thing. I would like to run AEM in the future, but for now the Haltech will do. I have a feeling over the winter the EVO 3 and FP red is going to come out, so thats when I will really be worried about the AEM. This car is going to be a drag racer. My goal is to drive to the track and run a 9 second pass. I know it doesnt have it in her now, but if can break into the high 10s as it sits on race gas, I will be impressed. I will post more progress pictures tomorrow.

Which version of Haltech are you running?

Re: I am a new DSM owner

Its a E6K. This is the beginning of my re-wiring. The MSD DIS-2 was just hanging out in the front passenger corner, not even mounted. I am personally not a fan of having MSD boxes under the hood to begin with, so i moved it.
