Stock 420a on 17psi

This is what happens to us 420a guys. Try running 17psi on stock internals.
This is my friend Tony's car he mainly did it for an excuse to get his fiance to let him takeout the funds for a full rebuilt motor

Re: Stock 420a on 17psi

Maybe his fiance should let him take out a loan to buy a gsx or gst... Then it won't do that on 17 psi.

Wow, what a cool, pointless way to waste money Now he has to get a new block since he put a hole in it, instead of using it for the rebuild.

Re: Stock 420a on 17psi

I ran 17 psi on my Volvo and it was fine. Then the T3 finally blew its seals.

This is exactly why 420a's should be daily driver/good gas milage cars and gst/gsxs should be boosted and built.

He now has a built block. He already had a spare block with wiseco pistons and eagle hbeam rods. A new head also and he already had the turbo kit parts his total build for block and turbo setup was under 3k and he is now running 20psi daily.

Re: Stock 420a on 17psi

Wasn't the fastest 420a Eclipse on stock internals running 26 lbs and in the 12's. Pretty sure it was laying down around 400ish hp. He then built the bottom end and pushed it a little further. Its all the rage over on dsmtuners in the NA section.

Re: Stock 420a on 17psi

It really depends on how healthy the block is if it has perfect compression and good rings ect. With a good tune you can run 20psi stock block without blowing anything. But alot of these guys do not know how to tune or just use an apexi neo and think that is good enough fuel management and start blowing stuff up. Just like any other motor a good tuner can make the world difference on a NA turbo block.

9.6 compression + 17 PSI + questionable fuel control + likely high air temps = melty engine goodness. Not much surprise there.
