Cold Natured??

I have a 1998 spyder gs. It runs fine when it warms up but it takes a longtime to warm up and till it does it runs really ruuf low rpms. Can sumone point me in the direction to fix the problem?? I also am throwqing codes for map sensor and maf sensor.

Check to make sure your MAF and MAP sensors are plugged in.

As far as the warming up issue, you probably have a stuck open thermostat. It is also possible you may have a malfunctioning FIAV (fast idle air valve) which helps your car idle when it is cold.

First off.

As for your warming up problem. I would first say thatyou should fix the problems with the map and maf and see if that solves your problem. When was the last time you replaced your Thermostat? It could be stuck open, causing a longer then normal warm up period for the car.

Do you have a logger handy?

Sorry for the Rough and Somone Issues bad habbit. No Logger handy i have replaced the MAF once its pretty exspinsive i thank it was around $300. i am replacing the MAP senor on wensday. Just wanted to know the possibilty of the parts it could be.

Make sure your CEL clears after you replace the sensors (if necessary).

Thermostat and FIAV are your next bet in getting it to warm up quicker.

Quick test: Do you have good heat in the car?

I have no heat what so ever at the moment.

You need a new thermostat. Easy to replace. Best part is it's cheap, too, about $13.

Make sure they include the rubber o-ring which goes around the thermostat when you buy the new one.
