Re: Kelford 272's in a DSM.

I cant wait to see how these do on my e316g setup coming from BC272s.
Im thinking Im going to experience a drop in boost pressure on the gauge with a nice increase in mid range and top end power! I should know how they do sometime in sept/oct when the car will be back on the road and tuned. Turns out Im just going with the BC springs and retainers, not putting any more thought into it, and trying to save money since there cheap. Dont plan to rev past 8k anymore so that will suffice. I have a hx40 going on after I do some things with the e316g, the cams should work well with that turbo, ill be happy if Im anywere between 400-450awhp on 93oct with mid to high 20psi range tuned !

Re: Kelford 272's in a DSM.

I wish I could have done a straight-up cam swap from my Comp 200's to these. Being that I did many other upgrades at the same time, I really don't have anything to compare my current set-up to. They seem like an excellent set of cams though. My powerband never levels out. Pulls strong all the way to my shift point (8K right now).

Re: Kelford 272's in a DSM.

I placed an order Kelford 280/276 yesterday. They are replacing my FP 4R cams.

Re: Kelford 272's in a DSM.

They're already at the shop. APM ftw! I'll post a video when the new setup is done.

Re: Kelford 272's in a DSM.

Any on have any dyno#s after switching from a HKS 272s to the Kelford 272s. I am looking to get as much power out of my FP3052 as I can.

Re: Kelford 272's in a DSM.

Not much can be said about them yet other than what came from that AMS Evo testings, and the handful of dsmer's running them on this site seem to like them a lot, as well when I brought them up to my friend at Darkside performance, with the specs sheet he said they look comparable to the June cams. So from looking at the specs and the hearsay, its easy to conclude that they are superior cams to the HKS272s, or any 272s on the market for that matter...

Re: Kelford 272's in a DSM.

I've decided to keep the 4R's. The Kelford 280's will make more power up top but I do not want to sacrifice the low end power and have to rev to compensate for the higher duration.

Re: Kelford 272's in a DSM.

The kelford 280s seem more like a 10k rpm high end drag wacko's cam lol. What about kelford 272s verse the fp4rs? For the evo's testing the kel272s out performed the fp4r's if I can recall... DSM/Evo=Apples to oranges though maybe...

Re: Kelford 272's in a DSM.

In the end it all depends on your setup and what you are looking for. I like the 4R's full boost on 70mm turbo 4800rpm and keeps pulling. Great street/strip cam.

I can't speak for the Evo test. Every test is different. Example BC stage 3(BC 280) vs FP4R's vs Kelford 272 cams. Here is the test. http://www.zerotohundred.com/newforu...i-vii-etc.html.

On there BC 280 made 452 peak, FP4R (Comp Cam) made 466 peak, and Kelford 272 made 498 peak. But STM has a dyno video of back to back comparisons of BC 280 vs Comp 272 cams (which are smaller and less aggressive than 4R's).

There is a big difference between the BC 280 and the Comp 272 cams (smaller than 4R's)on this test than AMS test.
http://videos.streetfire.net/video/C...omp_641548.htm

AMS Evo test has a 14whp difference between the two. STM DSM dyno has a 45whp difference on a smaller cam. This helped my decision to just keep my 4R's. If it ain't broke why try to fix it. Feel me?

Re: Kelford 272's in a DSM.

Completely agree, when you get to serious modding stages, these cars become parasitic money pits enough as it is. The only reasons I even have kelfords is because I think the BC 272s are too far behind in the rat race, and also because I lucked out and had enough money on income tax this year to get them...

I run JUN272's and I think they are gods gift to man. I love these cams, and have had FP3x, FP4's,Crower 414's and BC280's and the Juns rule hands down.

It's easy to say when looking at with the naked eye, but I'm sure there not. If they are a cheap copy, then man you got yourself a bad ass cam for a great deal! Darkside will be comparing specs tomorrow or Tues and let us know!

Drew was looking at the cam spec's sheet. Idk the cost of june but the kelfords were'nt exactly cheap in my opinion, and they seem like a quality cam. At least so far i know the results are quality. I know your cams are sick too though. And I heard ya'll were out tuning the other night. Glad your new tranny is still attached to the motor, and I still want that ride!
