I would never have guessed that such a humble old man was a 'petrol head'. I love that shit.
That is an interesting video. I think it was more of a 'let's cover our asses' vid, but great information none the less. Now I have some firepower on the topic.

I'm lost. Looks like a bunch of bullshit. I don't see anything different other than Nissan inserting a 2" thick piece of steel down the back of their pants with different verbage, instead of making the car not shit a transmission when you use the "VDC off - mud escape" mode.
Oh yeah, spinning tires and launching hard is not fun either. Just ask the engineer.
They still don't understand America.

+1 That's complete BULLSHIT. Damn near everything he said was straight up full of shit. The new GTR FTL. As ManRightChea said in the comments, I'd take an R34 or R33 over the new GTR anyday.
Re: 2010 GT-R - GT-R Launch Control Controversy Explai
I'm still bummed my dad cancelled his GT-R order last month. We were getting it at sticker price too because he was supposed to get an 09 in January. He got tired of waiting and figured it was an omen.
I definitely don't think it was a coincidence that the launch control was set at 4500 for 09, but I thought it was interesting that the engineer mentioned the wheel hop with VDC off. The Lotus designed suspension does have active dampening, so I wouldn't be surprised that it functioned almost as well on as off. Either way, a 3000 stall will be enough now, especially after mods, and reduce the wheel hop. You guys should also realize that in December there had only been 18 recorded cases of blown transmissions (out of 1750+ cars) in the U.S. This number includes cars that were modded and track driven. I personally think the car has a badass powerplant that is far better than the RB was. The head flow is far greater and the block will handle retarded amounts of power without upgrades. And the handling of the R35, holy fuck. Yeah the electronics piss off the really good drivers, but it makes any novice look like a badass on a road course lol.
I still hate that they didn't at least option a manual trans, that is pretty gay. Regardless, no way would I pay 60K or more for a used and abused R34 that technically isn't street legal over a new, warrantied R35.

It sounds to me like a company covering their ass, just like every one else does.
Bottom line, if you buy a new car and mod it or abuse it and it breaks don't bitch. That's just the way it is. That's why I don't buy newer cars. The car companies are very good at getting out of having to cover you.
Looking at the way that launches, how fast are they 60'ing these cars?
