I wouldn't let that touch my leather seats.

Re: What is the best product to soften leather seats?

http://www.lexol.com

I highly recommend Lexol products.

I've used their 2 step cleaner and conditioner process on my BLACK leather seats for the last 10 years.

My seats look and feel just like they did the day I brought the car home from the dealer.

However my car only has 22,000 original miles and has ALWAYS been garaged kept.

Re: What is the best product to soften leather seats?

It's very hard, if not impossible, to get hard leather soft again. I've used mothers leather cleaner and conditioner on my car since I've owned it and the best I can say is that the seats haven't worn or hardened more since then. I also swap out my seats in the summer time though for cloths, if you park your car outside the constant sun can be very damaging to leather seats. I only use mine from mid fall to early spring, when sunshine is at a minimum.

Re: What is the best product to soften leather seats?

Here's a little trick. Park your car out in the sun for a few hours and get the interior good and hot. Soak down the seats a good amount while the seats are still fairly warm. You don't wan them to cool down much.

Spray the Lexol directly on the seats and keep an even wet appearance. Let it soak in for about an hour or so. Repeat the exact same step again, but put the car under a tree, in a garage, etc. and let it all cool down over night.

Repeat the step again for the 3rd and final time, but instead of leaving it sit again, wipe off the excess after about 15 minutes.

If you don't see a noticeable improvement folowing these exact steps then let me know.

I have something else that is guaranteed to work without any damge or color changes to the leather.

BUT, generally the Lexol steps I outlined for you to take will work great.

Re: What is the best product to soften leather seats?

Usually leather has to be maintained from the start. It's animal hide, the lotion thing actually wouldn't cross my mind as working! I wouldn't try it first, but last resort hell! Either it works or your getting new leather anyways! And if very last resort, Get a fat chik to sit on them and stretch it out a bit!

Re: What is the best product to soften leather seats?

I agree that leather is definitely best when maintained from new, that's for sure.

I've used baby oil to soften older leather seats all ready, but it leaves an oily mess. It's best to do the baby oil process with the seats out of the vehicle. Then before your ready to install you go through the Lexol 2 part cleaning and conditioning.

Re: What is the best product to soften leather seats?

Have you tried a general google search for leather care? I bet some Martha Stewart crap out there would work!

Re: What is the best product to soften leather seats?

From what I hear, Lexol is always best for leather, Zac (zckry on here) works for a super nice leather company and he told me to always use that because that's what they use on their leather bags and stuff to condition them after use.
But I've had good results with Armor All's leather cleaner and conditioner.
It's cheaper than Lexol or Mcguires but you might not get as great of a conditioner.

Re: What is the best product to soften leather seats?

Leatherique from my experience works 10x better then Lexol does. I had a 76 ferrari 308 gt4 that I used it on and although it didn't restore them to new condition. There was a hugely noticeable difference afterwards.

Re: What is the best product to soften leather seats?

+1 on the Lexol products. I work at a quick lube/ detailing place and we use Lexol conditioner. We first take a stiff brissel scrubbing brush plus Stoner Trim Cleaner and clean them real good. Then with an applicator pad rub in the Lexol conditioner much like you would wax. My 01 Stratus with 107k still has the new car leather smell and I just applied the same process to my Laser's leather seats and notice an improvement already.

Baseball glover conditioner should do fine.
