Adopting two dogs from a shelter: a Shepard/Doberman and Shepard/Lab
So my woman and I have been wanting two dogs for a long time, so we did some research of local animal rescue shelters within 20 or so miles. Made an appointment with one and went yesterday about some dogs they have. Just fell in love with these two...
This little guy is going to be mine. They estimate he's five months old and half Doberman and half Shepard. Love his color, fur, eyes, markings, personality, and them big ol' ears! Such a cool dude, very energetic and playful. Loves to lick faces and get belly rubs... can't wait to see how he develops as he grows up.
Here's the one the woman picked out. She's a half Lab and half Shepard, about two months old. Very calm and chill.
We applied and they're going to bring the dogs for a home visit on Saturday, and unless something goes horribly wrong, they're going to stay with is. I am so pumped; can't wait!

I will only get rescued animals. Last year the shelter here got in 12,000 animals and im going to be conservative and higher than probable and say they place 50% and the rest were, well ya know. In my PR class right now we are working on a project with the shelter to help them try to place more animals, esp those that people have lost, not abandoned.

Nice!
Sadly, the only adopted animal I've had attacked my mom and we had to give him away. It wasn't the dogs fault, he wasn't put down, but he was just too protective of me and I was too young to have a dog like that around. After that I got my current dog, a purebred golden. He's my best friend Doggah's FTW

+1 for you rescuing the dog from the shelter!! I've been in the market for a new puppy and I may just need to start looking there instead of breeders... Very nice pups though!

Good luck with them, hopefully you get them. The one you picked has quite the same features as my shepherd/hound we adopted back in June.

Similar situation here, got a shepherd/hound mix from North Shore animal league (anyone in the NE or that's a howard stern fan has herd of them). Anyways, dog bit the neighbor in the ass and recently tried attacking my father-in-law, we're currently looking to rehome her. She's great 99% of the time, but that 1% it's like she's got a screw loose and will just randomly start growling with ferociousness, even at me or the wife and we know she loves us. Certainly a tough tough decision, but it's something that's gotta be done.
To the OP, hope your luck is better. I recommend a basic obedience class for the dogs, especially if they are the first ones you've ever raised on your own. It's good socialization for the dogs and a good way to train yourself to teach the dog properly. Plus shepherds are incredibly smart so they'll pick up fast

Yea, I’ve been thinking about going to the pound to adopt one but I don’t have the money right now and I’m about to move into a place and I’m not too sure if the family will want me to bring a dog with me lol

The shebby is a peculiar looking mix. So much so that it's pretty cool to see a fawn colored shepherd mix. With longer fur and shep ears. (good you don't have to crop or post them to get them to stand and the dog to have full control over them)
Give him a name as unique as he looks. That is a cool looking dog.
I would haz that - no question.
We searched shelters from downtown up to here for a Dobie when we got Zaze. No dice. So I had to get one through a breeder. I don't regret that choice either though. He's as healthy as a horse. And about as big as one too...
Grats on the new doggies! If I was a rich guy I would have like... 100 dogs. Or basically my own shelter. I really like dogs.
