Iím driving in the snow, at night, uphill, low RPMs, low or no boost, engine semi warm.
Then I hear and feel this happy crunch which I half assumed half hoped it was ice/slush that shook loose and maybe the back wheel ran over it. Everything seems fine for a few moments and then my power steering is gone, I can still turn the wheel but all mechanical help is gone. Then I notice that the battery and brake lights are on the dashboard as if I had stalled out, but I didnít stall I was still driving.
At this point I stop and get out, I canít see anything on the road that might have fallen off or been leaking, but it is night time. Being very close to home, dark, cold and snowing I limp it home and realize that I donít have any heat at all even though I am up to temp. Moments later I start to over-heat. Nothing seems to be leaking, broken or wrongÖ
So in summary, in one moment all the following happened:
Power Steering is gone,
Battery and E-Brake Lights on the Dash
Any Advice, help or even where to start would be much appreciated, thanks.
Before you slap another belt on there, it would be a good idea make sure that nothing is seized up. Make sure the alternator spins freely and that you can rotate the water pump and powersteering pump as well.
