XTD CLUTCH? Yes or no?

Well the rebuild is going to be a super tight budget now. I have to have the trans refreshed, get a turbo, manifold and clutch.
What is everyone's thoughs on a xtd stage 4 6puch clutch?
Found one for a good price and on a budget.
Shooting for 600-700hp. However probably not until I get a baller clutch later down the line.

I've heard good and bad about them.

It's an eBay (or was) item so imo you're taking a risk.

Look into some South Bend stuff? I'd never put an XTD clutch into a car i remotely called a performance car.

Tell that to people running 10's on them. XTD clutches are as good as any other mildly upgraded pressure plate, and puck disk. I have run 30+ psi on a fully setup hx40 car with one, and cut numerous 1.6 60' times on it. My last one lasted 200 launches and countless highway pulls before i pulled it out. It didn't fail, i just change them often because of my driving habits.

That being said, i wouldn't put one on a 700hp car. If i already had one on a car and was upgrading the turbo, maybe, but not from the beginning.

Re: XTD CLUTCH? Yes or no?

Been thinking of getting one of these myself (tho it will be the stage 3) for my car. Stage 3 handles 350hp/300tq so it'll be good for my current setup plus it's sprung so it won't be so hard to use as the daily. Stage 4 jumps to 530hp/400tq I believe so as it would be the last clutch I would need for my goals, I don't think it's needed at this point.
Anyway the guys at XTD have one neg feedback out of 3600 sold this year. Thats got to count for something.

Re: XTD CLUTCH? Yes or no?

I've had one in my FWD. The sprung 6-puck was a bit rough on engagement, but is doable. I wouldn't want an unsprung one though. I think it's a good clutch. I haven't had problems. I know another who has it on his car and it's been good as well.

Re: XTD CLUTCH? Yes or no?

There is a review of one in the parts review center. I have done research on them and DO NOT get anything sprung disk wise. To the guy that posted about getting the stage 3 sprung disk, do not get it. Out of my own research, not looking at ebay feedback or anything like that, people that had any of their sprung disk products had failures. The springs would come out of the disks pretty much always.

Don't get the stage 3. The only xtd clutch that holds power, and is durable is the stage 4. The xtd stage 4 clutch is an ebay phenomenon, one of the few, cheap, good products. Their other clutches may be good, but aren't near the quality, and strength of the stage 4. Besides, there is no driveabilty changes between a sprung, and unsprung puck disk. The springs are there to dampen drivetrain harmonics. The splines last longer on the sprung disks, at the risk of popping springs.

Re: XTD CLUTCH? Yes or no?

I actually ordered the stage 4 for my build from XTD on ebay got it all for 80 shipped to canada. When it comes down to it for 80 bucks why not give it a shot. It came with everything and I have done a few clutchs on my own vehicles and a few for friends and I will have to say its a very good looking clutch. the quality of this clutch is even better then some OEM clutchs I have done.
