wipers stuck in the midle position, don't go back to park postion when turned off
Hi all
My wipers remain at the 12 o'clock position when they are turned off. They were working fine before I removed the motor. Any one had a similar issue and possible fixes
Re: wipers stuck in the midle position, don't go back to park postion when turned off
No I did not; I guess the motor and the transmission assembly are misaligned. Correct me please; I have to
1. disconnect the motor from the linkage
2. turn on the wipers on intermittent
3. and when the motor is off turn off the ignition.
4, put down the wipers in the park position
5. connect then the motor to the linkage.
Re: wipers stuck in the midle position, don't go back to park postion when turned off
The original problem was that the nut that holds the motor to the linkage came loose. i put it back with everything and the problem came up. I guess the motor was spinning and it somehow got misaligned. is that possible?
Re: wipers stuck in the midle position, don't go back to park postion when turned off
i tried to set the motor and linkage to park before hooking up together but still endup in the same position; ie arms pushing downward and need to be to the 12 o'clock to work properly. any more help?
Re: wipers stuck in the midle position, don't go back to park postion when turned off
Since you had the wiper transmission out...
On the pivots are the arms pointed to the drivers side of the car?
As viewed from the arm side of the pivots the arm should be about the 4 o'clock position.
They can park backwards if the linkage is set that way.
Re: wipers stuck in the midle position, don't go back to park postion when turned off
I never took out the linkage when i assembled diassembled the motor. i just disconnected from the motor. the system was working fine before the motor removal only. tere are three screw for each side so the linkage can only go in position one way. is that a true statement?
Re: wipers stuck in the midle position, don't go back to park postion when turned off
OK I misunderstood.
The pivots only have 3 bolts yes & go one way.
The trans can be set in numerous positions.
You took the motor apart?
The cam wave plate in the same position in the motor?
That activates the park switch. It is a mechanically activated switch.
I was under the impression you repaired the trans not disassembled the motor.
Likely your problem lies there.
Re: wipers stuck in the midle position, don't go back to park postion when turned off
I think the park switch is not being activated. From what was explained; it seems it is in the motor. so I am not sure if there is many ways to position the motor as there are 4 screw to hold it to the chassis and one nut to hold the motor's shaft it to the linkage assembly ? I only took those 4 screws and nut and reassemble the motor back.
Re: wipers stuck in the midle position, don't go back to park postion when turned off
is it possibly a ground issue? but then the motor will not work and you have mentioned it is a mechanical switch?
Also is it possible the park switch in the motor is dead? I mean the wipers otherwise work perfectly? OK I am lost now. i will probably try my brother;s motor but wait first for your answers?
Did anyone encountered this issue or am I the first to experience this? I searched and one thread mentioned similar issue but there was no conclusion about the solution

Re: wipers stuck in the midle position, don't go back to park postion when turned off
After searching and looking in the electrical wiring; i think that the switch on pin 3 and 4 of a-09 is not being deactivated at the correct time. I am going to check the orientation of the motor but i think there is only one orientation; is that true?
Re: wipers stuck in the midle position, don't go back to park postion when turned off
I attached the nut i have removed and put back couple of times. i have a feeling it is the park switch in the motor or the orientation of the connecting lob that is not correct.
