code scanner is not powering up when i plug it in any ideas or know whats wrong with this??

Turn the key ?
Try it on a different car...does it work? If not maybe it's the device.

Well before we can give you any advice, you have to give us some information. First what kind (brand) of scanner are you using? does it take batteries or is it powered from the car? if its powered from the car, do you have any blown fuses or has anyone messed with the cars factory wiring in ANY way, including adding a sound system? which model of car do you have? turbo or non turbo?

Is it a little OBD scan reader that self powers plugged into the diagnostic connector?
Check your fuses & see if one is popped & not powering the OBD connector.
