Question on Alpine 52-05 DVD/CD Player

Ok. I've ordered my Apine 5205, which is an in-dash CD/DVD player. Since I'm a numbskull, I thought this came with a screen. What screen(or alpine system) do I get that plays in accordance with the 5205??? (I'm a newbie in electronics, bear with)

no no no no screen included as you painfully found out... what you need is any cd player (or receiver with monitor) that includes a screen that folds out (i assume this is what youre looking for) i recommend the CVA-1006 or the IVA-C800... the IVA-C800 comes with a built in cd player.. the CVA-1006 is less expensive, no cd player. they updated the CVA-1006 this year (from the CVA-1005 to support more power on the preamp board) they also have a CVA-1003 which is less expensive than both, but doesnt have as many inputs.. and a smaller screen. in my personal opinion go with the IVA-C800.. a bit more expensive, has a cd player so you can use multiple sources (if thats your thing) and has more power so your system will have a better signal to noise ratio and lower THD (total harmonic distortion.. pretty important for clean sound) .

all of these will control that dvd player with no problem.. and will mount cleanly in the din slot above (or below) it.

What would be the point of buying the CVA-1008???? I know it has a built in CD Player, but the DVD/Cd 5205 will already play cds and dvds....

the cva-1006 (i presume thats the one youer thinking of) doesnt play cds... its a receiver... required to make the dva-5205 to work (either one of the 3 i showed you will control it) those are really the only options you have really. btw the IVA-C800 is the one that plays cds... it gives you multiple source options... like you can play the cd up front, while your passenger watches a dvd on a second monitor... otherwise its not worth it.

hmmm. So the CVA-1006 and 5205 sounds like the plan. Would just buying a CVA800 be a better idea????

in terms of cost? yes... in terms of space taken in your dash? yes... but if you want to play DVDs, NOPE the IVA-C800 wont play DVDs... just CDs... but its an awesome unit
