LCD as a mobile video screen

Rummaging through my pile of old laptops ( I have a lot of older laptops that are just sitting in a pile in my room), I come across a Toshiba from around 1996 that has a nice sized screen. Seeing as how it doesn't work all that well, I thought it would be fun to extract the LCD screen and see if there are any uses for it. I've seen small LCD screens (5" - 6") are less than $200 online, but I thought that perhaps I could use this relatively large screen, and save myself a couple hundred $$$.

I plan on getting a PS2 for my car (to keep my passengers occupied) to play dvds and games, and I was wondering if this screen could be attached to a PS2 and mounted somehow. If not, I'll either get a small, cheap LCD; or I'll just not hook up an LCD in my car at all (people should be happy enough just to ride in it )
I just thought it would be kinda cool, if it could be done.

It's more then possible, I just don't know how to do it. I'm guessing you'll need to solder some new electronics on it to display the standard TV signal. One question, will that LCD support 640x480 res? If not your going to have a black box around the outside of your image.

Yes. Actually, it goes up to 800x600. I'd be willing to solder whatever it takes onto it to make it work, it'll still be cheaper than buying a new or used screen offline. If anyone would be willing to instruct me as to what I would have to do or buy (from Radio Shack, maybe?) to get this to work, I'd be happy to reward the information with a nice, approx. 10" LCD (if you want it). I've got quite a few of them.

You're gonna need some sort of lcd controller, which will set you back around $200 I believe. If the laptop still works, you can get a video card for it that has composite inputs and you can use those to work with. The only problem with that is you'd still need your laptop's computer to run it, maybe stowed away under a seat or something.
