Yeah I tried to repair mine.. it seems like it should work but it won't open the door. At least it looks like there is a handle on there now.. it just won't open the door!

Thanks. it only took me 1 hour with these detailed instructions. It would have driven me crazy without them.

I couldn't find a socket small enough to remove the interior bolt so I used an open-ended wrench as was used in the last step to reinstall the bolt. A 1/4 drive socket would have been small enough, but all I had was 1/2 and 3/8. That bolt removal was the trickiest part for me

If you don't have a black car, then you can put them on, but they won't match your body paint color. It will cost extra to get those jokers painted.

read post #1 over again plz

I could not find one from a junkyard, so i got one for $60 from satan, and it does come in the factory color, so that is a plus.

The handle only comes in black. I tried multiple dealerships and online and that's it. If you buy the equivalent Avenger handle from Chrysler, it comes in white.

The Mitsubishi body shop charged me 50.85 for the paint job (.8 hours labor @ $36 per hour, .8 hours paint @ $22 per hour)

Re: VFAQ: How to fix your broken door handle on a 2G

I shot my own tech pics for folks who buy my repair kit. You can check them out at my website.

http://www.rcaz.com

Look about halfway down the page for the repair kit link. From there you will find further info and pics on how to remove the handle with a special trick that makes it much easier to get access to the plastic clip on the push rod.

Those pics by airpoppoff have been down a long time. The pics on my site should help as I have added a step that makes it easier to detatch the pushrod that goes down to the door latch.

Re: VFAQ: How to fix your broken door handle on a 2G

Yea that crucial step of that rod was VERY helpful...before finding your site i had a cuss word contest with it, but after searching on google i did come across your site and it did make it much easyier.

Thanks much!

Re: VFAQ: How to fix your broken door handle on a 2G

I got my outer bolt and lock out. Cant get the last bolt on the inside of handle for crap! Is it a 10mm bolt? I gotta try and find my mini ratchet. Cant get the open end wrench on because of the molded plastic for lock.
