Just killed my fist Vette and barely broken-in ....kinda long

All I have to say is WOW..is only the second day driving the monster after "ALL" the work. I was coming up to a light(greenbelt road after BW parkway) and I see this nice dark grayish new style vette to my left(i was at the far right). The light was about to turn green no revs or anything..wasn't sure if it was gonna happen. I got the jump fist(i am fwd..go figure) and I guess he underestimated me cus it took him a long long time to catch up. I had about 1 1/2 cars thu 1st and 2nd and 1 at top of 3rd he came to my rear bumper at the beginning of 4th just before I let off at 110 on a 55mph(far right tooo dangerous do to cars pulling in and out). It WAS AMAZING. Earlier today i had two other races on 495 going towards gaithersburg(270). First, it was a v6 accord that i destroyed but took pleasure in doing. I was still humiliating the accord when i saw a moded 2g, white just like mine(even the 3 gauge pillar) a little riced out but not too bad. We went from 3rd gear and I just started pulling and pulling that i slow down. I gave him the thumbs up and then we paced each other to see who took the turns better. I went on my way after a while HAPPY.

My mods are: b16g, apexi front mount with piping from turbo to intake manifold(up pipe from extreme with 1g bov), new RC 550's, new limited s-afc, injen intake, ACT2100, Phantom Grip, 2.5 (heat wrapped) down pipe and 2.5 all the way to the greddy evo(no cat), heat wrapped exhaust mani as well, filled motor mounts, walbro 255lph, boost, egt, a/f gauges and shift light. I also have non power adders like pro-kit, Koni adjustables, camber front and back, strut braces and hks turbo timer. I'll have it dyno tomorrow at extreme and let you guys know....but any educated guesses would be welcome....sorry for the long pot and awkward story telling but i just that hyper...I'll post pics soon!!!

The Phantom Grip is pretty cool. I can't really give you a good input because i got the car with second gear broken...so i just went ahead and put it on. By the way I forgot to mention I am running 18psi.

I feel proud to be a dsmer...despite ALL THE WORK I DID TO GET IT RUNNING LIKE A CHAMP. turbolegacy I live close to you(greenbelt, near nasa) maybe we can get together some time. ARE THERE ANY MARYLAND DSM CLUB MEETS? I would love to chill and get more ideas(or give some my self). By the way... there's this guy at work with a 260hp maxima that wants to run me, I’ll post the kill soon(I hope).

if the maxima has some money for mods, watch out.
They just released a new turbo kit I think about a month ago for the newer maxima's. ('03 i think? not the new ugly redesigns)
Prospective testing shows 390hp with the entire kit. Granted it's expensive, however if he has the money, those things can be dangerous. Otherwise 99% of them are left stock.

The maxima guy is backing out

I was braging about the vette with him (instigating him), now he's giving me excuses...(too new, wants his car to last). I have driven his car on the open road and IT DOES NOT PULL like a boosted car! It's cool his not a bad guy(just a little wus). You got it turbolegacy, its right near college park.

Re: Just killed my fist Vette and barely broken-in ....kinda long

Great kill

But it wouldn't be like me if i didn't point out that he was pulling on ya and i think he would have passed ya up by the end of that 4th gear (LS1s pull extremely hard (i.e. him making up that car length in 3rd) on the top end) And i believe.. if your getting pulled on steadily and you let off right before they can pass you.. you know deep inside the probable outcome. But I salute you for backing off in the dangerous traffic situation and way to keep the vette at bay.

Always blindly defending the LS1

Nice kill! And nice car! I'm in MD also. Check out the Yahoo Capital Area DSM club. There are lots of meets. Go to the "events and gatherings" section of dsmtalk and there is a link. Big DSM meet on June 21st. I'll be there if I can walk/drive by then (recovering from knee surgery).

Scorch LS1 your right...But

We did roughly a quarter of a mile and I posted that outcome, a kill is a kill here and in china! I know a vette would kill me above 130(not that i would push it that fast..I don't have z rated tires) they have to be expensive for a REASON. A co-worker of mine has a 2000 millennium yellow vette...He is now a believer(wont race at all...old guy). 91turboTSi thanks for the info I will definitely show up.
