well last night i decided to dump the clutch because I just got my 92 talon and i figure i should be able to do it once w/o problems happening but i guess i was wrong. so it was at about 5 grand and i llet the clutch out and the car went no where. tires didnt spin, car didnt move an inch and no loud noises. so i let off and let it sit for aminute and went to drive off and the clutch felt like it was slipping so bad that there was no clutch at all. but the weird thing is is that my mph gauge was showin iwas goin 20 wen really i would only be doin 5. so im pretty sure its something in the tranny but what and do you guys know how much it would be to fix...thanks

one of your axle's either broke or popped out. climb under the car and check them out.
Or it could be a broken center diff. Check out VFAQ.com for repair tips.
could it just be my clutch because i got a haynes repair manual and in the troubleshooting section it says that it could just be the clutch slipping and describes it as the engine speed increasing with no increase in vehicle spead and goes on to say the clutch plate could either be worn, soaked in oil, not seated, warped pressure plate or flywheel, or weak diaphragm spring... so would it make snese for it to just be the clutch that is the problem??
nope its not your clutch if your mph goes up with the rpms and ur not goin anywhere. its going to be an axle or one of the differentials in the tranny.
right, the speedo cable goes to the front diff, so if the speedo is going up then the gears and stuff inside the tranny are spinning, too. If the clutch were slipping the gears wouldn't speed up.
same thing happened to me when i broke my center diff. car limped home in rwd mode.
well now some guy is tellin me that hes almost positive that its the throwout bearing  im confused...
