355 V8! four to many cly!

there is this guy that lives by my buddy who has an orange 355 91 camaro and hes talking shit like its an 11sec car im like lets do it then. i have a 90 fwd with upper icp, lower icp, turbo pipe, 3in downpipe, 255 fp, ported 2g exaust manifold and o2, 16x8in eagle alloys with falken ze 502s and i run it at 15psi ive took it to 20 on 110 race gas and i was spining through 3rd its carzy. but anyways 1st gear was close then after that it was like racing one of those 1.5L P.O.S civics! i even gave him 5$ in gas to do it because he said it was so fast. it was great to put a red neck in his place along with the other v8s thats have 4 too many cly! hahaha bitch!

and the camaro you raced was probly a L98 350, not a 355.

Ya! lol... it is a 355. It was a real nice car with immaculent factory red paint, it even has a the VERY HARD to find 5 speed in it. But when that kid got it he SPRAY painted it orange. My car is AWD and i beat him too. All i have is IC pipes and a mbc set at 15psi.

chevy never sold that body style of the camaro with the TPI 350 v8 and a 5 spd?

althought, if it truely is a 355, then it isn't stock and probly has a different tranny.
You probably raced a 305. The L98 did not come witha 5speed in the F-body. The 305 has 215 hp from the factory. I believe stock with a good driver are a mid-high 14 second car.
I don't get it...this forum is always full of people so quick to call BS or criticize because they are bored. This is a DSM forum meant for support and venting. If you saw it personally then you have room to talk, but if this guy says he smoked a 355 then we should just say okay and move on even if you don't believe it. If you have nothing positive to say then just don't post.

i've always found this site to be very informational oriented vs club si style site. People do not blow sunshine up your ass here, which I why I browse.

I see what you mean w/ the 2.1 that is BS> and to the rest, I did not single anyone out and say that they particularly are stupid or anything derogatory. So your STFU is pretty uncalled for and i am in a great mood today so im cool no matter what is said. I just feel that people look for unnecessary conflict at times and i was wanting a better answer than "STFU" that takes very little thought at all. To steeltwo. Your response was understood. I agree. I would ask you if it was a destroked 2.4L, since 2.0L crank in a 2.4 comes out to about 2.1 L :D

That was funny when he told me it would run an 11 sec 1/4 a couple of weeks ago. It was on tuesday(open night at the track) and i told him to come to the track with us and i'd give him 500$ if he ran anything better than a 13. He shut up after that.
Don't forget to bring your logger cable over tomorrow, my car feels like shit and i want to see whats goin on.

They look the same on the outside. I can put the same valve covers/air cleaners/anything else on either.

Why does everyone make such a big deal about bagging v8's. Most of them are running stock heads. From the 60s. If you look up times, most cars were in the 14s then, big ffffing deal. So lets say they're mid 13's now. Even bigger ffffing deal. Whats the fuss. Go after something challenging.

Just anything as long as it is/has been modernized somewhat.

Case in point, my friend called me up "i got your cars sister, a 68 Olds 4-4-2, come over and see it". So I did, and I was expecting big things, being a top o' the line Olds. And I drove it and it was sad. :( :( :( It was quite painful to me, I figured it'd have smoething more than that. Well I looked it up, they ran about 15.-15.5 stock and you could probably hit 13s with them if you went through a lot. So anyway, they're not a big deal. But it sure made me like my car though.

the only thing i disagree with in this thread is saying most or all v8s from the 60's ran 14 or 15 sec in the quarter. the limiting thing back then was tires. try running a good quarter mile on 14 inch polyglass tires with 400 horsepower driving them. you will run a 15 smoking them the whole way. check out factory stock racing classes, where the cars of that era were running 11 seconds and quicker with a well tuned stock motor. i say good kill :) i love the 60s muscle cars (as well as some of the stuff coming out of detroit today, ie the new z06 vette!). i also respect anyone who can take a 4cyl and smoke one of them.
