97 Eclipse GST VS 2000 Camaro SS with bolt ons

Hey guys and girls! Some of you may know me and some may not. I was a previous owner of a 01 Acura Integra Type R with a fully built motor with a T3/T4 turbo setup. I recently sold that car because insurance was crazy on it, I wasnt getting the results i wanted with the b18c series motors. I sold it for a 97 Eclipse GST which came with a 3" thermal exhaust, a greddy Type RS BOV, dejon upper and lower intercooler piping, an S-AFC II as well as a walbro 190 fuel pump. For the past 2 months i have since added an Evo III 16G ported with a 34 mm wastegate, 660 cc injectors, injen intake, a Slow boy racing fmic, Evo III o2 housing, Evo III manifold, PLX M-300 wideband, EGT gauge, Tranny rebuilt by TRE with full LSD and upgraded synchros.. I dont have the dyno sheet in front of me but i made 347.36 WHP and 351.19 Lb/Ft Tq at 23 psi on pump gas.

Now as far as the race. I had a race with a local friend of mine with a 2000 Camaro SS with bolt ons. Both races were from a dead stop. My first launch I messed up, revved a little too high and the result was a 1/2 car behind the camaro in 1st gear. As soon as i shifted to 2nd gear i began to just feel the pull and blew right next to him and past him. I let off in mid 3rd with me by 4-5 car legnths.

Race #2: I launched right this time and gained easily a half car right off the launch, and i looked back and i lost him out of my sight. This time i took it to 120 MPH with me ahead by several cars.

All in all I'm really happy with my setup. Im thinking about going with a 75 shot as well as upping the boost a tad bit more.

Hope you enjoyed the kill! Glad to be part of the DSM family.

Sounds like a good kill, but i got one question for you my man. Why put a 75 shot on? why waste the money for that when you have most all of the support mods needed to just get a bigger turbo and up the boost even more. Just a thought man but good kill anyways.

Because smaller turbos + Nitrous= huge power gains. I am happy with my turbo setup as i do not plan to go bigger anytime soon. With spray and more boost & with the Competition cams I'm about to purchase, that will be one hell of a setup. I just want to try something different. I have never been fan of big turbo's so i could careless about a big turbo right now. The only reason i went with the T3/T4 on my Integra was because i got a good deal on the kit.

Sounds good man, Ive just never been a big fan of nitrous. But, i have seen the power gains from nitrous from freinds cars so by all means go for it. ;)

Neither have I, but something about my setup is telling me to go for it. I just want to experiment. This is my 1st dsm even though i have hung around with many people with talons and eclipses. Ive got lots to learn about these cars but so far from what I can see, I already love how these cars react to mods. My Integra was nothing compared to my GST. It took me years & alot of $$$$$ to squeeze out 310 WHP out of a Type R. It has taken me 2 months and less than $2500 to get 347 WHP out of this bad boy :p . And oh, one thing that pissed me off about my integra was always the lack of torque. The car was basically a slow terd untill higher RPM's (when it hit vtec). Driving a turbo dsm is totally a different experience. It feels so much more torquey and much much more powerful in every way.

Welcome to the DSM community Giovanni. I didn't think you wouldve sold your pride and joy anytime soon but glad to hear your happy with your new beast. Sounds like you have got yourself a good setup capable of near 400+WHP with cams, some more tuning, and that 75 shot. If you ever need help or advice, you know the man to come to. I hope you didnt sell your Type R just because you lost that race against me?? :p J/k

Take it easy
