4g63 are the 2.0L Mitsu motors used in the 90-94 dsms. The 4g63 came in turbo and non-turbo forms. The 1.8L motors used were not 4g63 motors. 95-99 2.0L turbo motors were still 4g63's but the non-turbo 2.0L motors were Chrysler built (not mitsu) 420a motors. < The 420a 2.0L is found in the dodge neon which debuted in 95 btw >

Yep, 4g37 is the designation for the 1.8L Mitsu engine. It's a decent, fuel-efficient engine in it's own right but it can't hold a candle to the 4g63 as far as horsepower potential is concerned. Reliability... well, it may have an edge there depending on who you ask!

As far as the transmission is concerned, posting the vehicle's year & configuration (1g or 2g; 420a, 4g37, 4g63{2.0L} turbo or non-turbo; fwd or awd) would help us know what transmission you're looking for...
Seems like he has a 93. I believe they only came with either the 4G63T or the regular one.

They didn't have the 4g37 1.8L motor in '93 or was it only offered on the eclipse + laser and not the talon at that point?

1993 was when the DL model started w/ the 4g37. The 1.8 was always available on the Eclipse and Laser.
