I was wondering what are the differences between 95-96 talon and 95-96 eclipse.. I'm pretty sure that the body kits will fit either car... I just mean.. If all the decals were shaved would you be able to tell the difference between the Talon and Eclipse.. I live in Canada, so right now.. eclipse's aren't available.. I love them.. But then i heard that talon's are the same car.. So if i get a talon will i be able to make it look identical to an eclipse.??
Let me know.. thanks..

Pretty much, the cars look the same. The Eclipses are all one color, vs a black top + body color, or the talon. The Talons have Different spoilers, The Front bumper cover have a Eagal in it, and that would be the biggest clue. The cars are identical as of performance, body kits are identical, interiors are the same, the only difference is a little bit of cheap tweaks to the extrior, that Chrystler put on so the cars woulnd't look identical. If you wanted to put on a body kit, then you wouldn't really beable to tell, that is if you got a spoiler side skirts bumpers, and paint. They don't even sale the 3g Eclipses up there? Or do they still call them talons, or are they just gone?

Something else that's interesting...

...Is that on the '95-'96 Eclipses, if it's turbo, you can tell instantly by the bottom. It'll be gray in color. If you see one of these year Eclipses (Talons are immune to this color coding) without a gray bottom, fear not! For it is the N/A variety!

Like I said, Talons don't have the same treatment.

Cool... Ya.. no eclipses up here... There are a couple around but only people that have bought them in the states and driven them up i guess.. So that cool then.. Cause if i get a talon i plan to put full body kit plus paint on it.. That's interesting about the roof not being coloured.. Cause all my friends love eclipses but don't like talons as well.. I tried to tell them that after being on here i found out that they are basically identical.. but they didn't believe me.. Perhaps that not all one colour thing makes a big difference... I think the back bumper cover is different on stock talons too.. but a kit would cure that..

I don't think that the tail lights are different cause i was just looking through a book selling altenza tail lights and they have those tail lights listed for talon and eclispe as the same part number.. I think just the middle part that says talon is different.. And where the license plate sits is different but... Would that be eliminated with a body kit???

My point is this ;) To make a 95 talon look like an 95 eclipse you will need to buy a rear bumper cover for an eclipse AND eclipse taillights. Example: The talon taillights have built in backup (reverse) lights. The eclipses have a seperate lights for the backup (reverse) lights. :D If you need me to, I can post pics of both rears to show you what I am talking about.:)

Superfly... I think i understand what your talking about... But if it is not too much trouble to post those pics it would be a great help..I wish that we could buy eclipses here in Canada.. But hopefully i can build a talon that looks like one...:) I guess those altenza tail lights don't have the backup light in it...

Neglecting the reverse lights the tail lights only really differ in the center section I believe. I wonder of you could still use the outer 2 sections of clear tails on a talon but still use the stock center plate surround. Not that I want to but I am surprised I haven't seen it done.

Are you planning on getting a turbocharged talon?

Yep... I'm planning on getting a 95 or 96 awd turbo.. and then building it from there.. I'm new to forced induction.. (I run nitrous on my car now).. But from everything i've read.. Talons and eclipses have huge potential..

They do have great power potential, but your not going to be able to tap into it if you keep on worrying about changing the look of the car so much. It is going to cost a good about of money to do what you are saying and the only reason I see that you are doing it is because your friends don't like Talons and Eclipses aren't available in Canada. Bottom line the cars are 95%+ identical and by putting a ground effects kit on the car it is not gonna make it look like an Eclipse. It will just look like a 2G Talon with a body kit. The car looks fine. If you used all of the money that you are putting in changing the looks of the car into adding performance mods you would have a very fast car on your hands. Just my opinion. I think it is always better to go performance before cosmetics especially if you get a car in good condition in the first place

jayman... You have a really good point... I don't mean to diss talon's....I would like to have the total package... A car that looks really phat and works really well.. Hopefully i will still have sufficient funds to spread the wealth between performance and appearance after i get the car..Thanks for your opinion though... It's true that i shouldn't get caught up on one thing and just go with the flow..

So... Superfly...

The kit you have on your car? Is that an Eclipse kit that fit? Did you have to install Eclipse headlights?

I'm interested as well. I figure I may as well snag a Talon TSi AWD, rather than a GSX. They are easier to find and several thousand cheaper around here....

Yeah... its an eclipse frontend. I just bought the frontend because I did'nt like the rest of the kit. Its a kit for a 97= eclipse but I made it fit :D I did'nt have to change headlights or anything. The only downside to this frontend is that it is VERY low to the ground and its fiberglass, Turning in and out of places I drive it like a whimp :D You can checout the rest of the kit at http://www.groundeffects.com it will be under the eclipses.
