Would an awd turbo ecu work in a fwd turbo?

No it wont work. betweent the two ecu's there is a difference in a couple of resistiors that make it either awd or fwd.

yes it will work, the ecu has nothing to do with the drivetrain
from EXPERIENCE it does not work, on a fwd 1g turbo ecu, there are 2 certain resistors as compared to a awd 1g turbo ecu only has 1 of the 2 certain resistiors. so to use a fwd ecu as an awd u must remove a certain one of those two resistors for it to work. somewhere there is pictures and descriptions of which resistors they are and where they are at, its too hard to explain.

What the hell are you talking about? The ECU's are the exact same. The drivetrain has absolutely nothing to do with that. Thats like saying the coolant reservoirs are different in AWD's than FWD's.

90 ECU's were different from 91-94. Maybe that was your problem.

I think your right. I tried an AWD 1990 ECU in my FWD 1990, and it did not work. I don't know about other years though.
yeah 2gs are interchangeable and the awd ecu doesnt have the speed limiter ;)

is this true????????????????????????
FWD's have a speed limiter at like 130 but AWD's dont.
That cannot be true because i have taken my 2g fwd to 147 with an unmodified ecu

this is true. but i think the limiter is at 137 mph. i have a fwd 2g turbo and i borrowed my friends awd 2g ecu to do some trouble shooting and it worked fine

that is so shocking to me that the awd has NO limiter. i remember racing across escambia bay on interstate 10 (what up P-cola?) and hitting my limiter for the first time. i didn't know what had happened- thought my engine blew for a couple seconds there.

V8 guys: always want to even up at 60 and THEN start racing. :D i got walked past cuz of that limiter thing... mustang cobra R... (i beat him at three lights on the way TO the interstate...)

ANYWAY- i was SO not looking at my Speedo- but supposedly his limiter kicked in at 155 so i would have to lean toward 147 cuz he was NOT edging me out THAT much...

man, i want to go back in time and spank that guy... one, day in my next dsm- i will find you! lol

fwd's had the speed limiter cuz they came with V rated tires (i think) while AWD's came with Z rated tires.

The limiter is simply there to stop you from exceeding the speed rating of the OEM tires.

Give me a heads up next time you're about to do that.

I find it useful (and life extending) to know when some imbecile is going to go 147 to 155mph on a public road.
All right that settles it. I just bought one and it does work. I successfully put an awd turbo from a 95 into a 99 fwd turbo with no problems just to test it out. Goodbye afc, hello dsmlink. :) :) :)
