For the cost the evo 16g is great. You do however need the install kit for it on a 2g rre has a great kit for this swap. Plus if you want to further upgrade, you only need to replace the turbo because you already put on the install kit You can get an good evoIII from www.buschurracing.com. I would port it 1st before install.
I have a 60 trim that has slight shaft play for sale.
the evoiii or big16g are probably the best bang for the buck out there. great quality and an outstanding reputation.

good luck to you.
i just got an evoIII for my 95 tsi and put it on the other day. im only pushing 10 lbs because im still on still on stock injectors. i already have the walbro 190 in and the 650s in my tool drawer and evoVIII front mount. just waiting to get a laptop so i can get dsmlink to turn up the boost a bit and get it tuned. i still have the stock downpipe and the sidemount and it still feels a lot better than the t25 at 15 lbs. just remember if you decide to go with the evoIII to port the hell outta the turbine, manifold, and o2 housing to help against boost creep. thats what i did and no creep so far, we'll see when i get the downpipe made. :)

Yup i agree 100%
well someday i wouldn't mind goin up to 400 horsepower, so i want the best turbo that can support up to 400 hp, then within a year i would get everything to be able to jump up the boost..
Well is 400HP your imidiate goal? Or is it a goal that you'd like to obtain down the road a while.
Regaurdless though, you should take things one step at a time.. and make sure you have all the parts you'll need for your desired upgrade, instead of going one piece at a time and trying to tune with what you have. I'm not very sure that the EVOIII will get you to the 400WHP that your looking for, but a good .50 trim will along with quite a few of the GT series turbo's. But nothing can start unless you have a good EMS.. DSM link is a good choice for tuning, along with Megasquirt, along with AEM's EMS unit.
FP Green is a great turbo for that range.
what would be the max hp i could run without the dsmlink? And also how much you buy your dsmlink for? the cheapest i've found was $545 is that a good price?

Do yourself a favor and only buy from www.dsmlink.com

Im not saying the other vendors aren't good, I'm just saying buying from the source in the best way IMO. Plus their technical and customer service is out of this world :)

Dont quote me, but I think you could get <500 whp on dsmlink.
Trust me, its a perfect for your goals and half the price of AEM EMS.
DSMlink has been in use on sub-10 second cars for quite awhile. It can handle pretty much any size injectors you can throw at it.
is the dsmlink something you could possibly borrow from a friend or can it only be set up for one car??
i just read on dsmlink.com that you have to have a EPROM ECU to be able to run the dsmlink, and they only come in the 95 year it also says, so all you guys have changed the ecu in your car?
I didnt because I have a 95 already, but you can pick them up for like $200 at www.ffwdconnection.com and other places as well. Even here in the classifieds and dsmtuner.com

In fact, I saw an ad recently on dsmtuners.com that a person was selling his 95 eprom with dsmlink installed for 600.00 bucks.

And yes it can only be set up for 1 Eprom ECU.
I don't see much problem with buying DSMLINK from vendors other than ECM-Tuning itself...I see it for sale on ebay and you still get the support of the DSMLINK.com forums and everything...The vendors sell them for $50 cheaper and ecm-tuning can back up their credibility...So, I would have no problem saving some bucks and buying elsewhere

The best deal is to buy used tho....

BTW: Don't jump into a turbo ie. 50trim w.out all the supporting mods 1st...10psi on a 50trim b/c you don't have fuel mods is no fun
