Boost controllers.

I currently have a cheap ebay boost controller. Some times my contoller is very inacurate. Meaning Sometimes my boost will spike to about 21 when it's really supposed to be 17 psi. I was looking at the basic turbo xs boost contoller. Was looking for some feedback on who may run this and how well it performs. Thanks, Jerry

i have both the old blue standard boost controller from turbo xs and the new silver one... still the standard one again... it WILL NOT boost past 15 lbs on either one if the screw is backed out to the fullest point right before the "o ring" on the pin it dosn't pass 15 lbs... I am looking into the Next avaliable option from turbo xs which is the high performance boost controller.

So basically what your saying is don't be cheap, buy the next one up in performance
Get a Joe P. or Hallman MBCs and you'll be set.
+1 on he Hallman with the cockpit controller.
yeah the cockpit controller is really nice. I have the evo rx kit with the ceramic ball and my friend has the pro RX (also ceramic ball) and they work better than electronic units if you ask me
Joe P mbc

$45 shipped at boostcontrollers.com

proven for years....shouldn't spike...ball & spring design

Enough said
How much over stock can you tune with the hallman? or the Joe P mbc? fuel permitting.
I have the Turbo XS HP Dual Stage (225 shipped from Extremepsi) and I love it.. I love having the option to switch boost levels on the go, when I am out messing around I just run on about 19 PSI, then when someone wants to mess around on the freeway or such I just flip the switch to 27 PSI.... Depends on how much you are looking to spend, IMO this is the way to go.

They make 2 springs one for like 5 psi over stock and one for over 5 psi over stock. Mine is set at 35 for cacing and 25 for the street, but I have a external gate.
NICE I was reading bout the dual ball design of the mbc and i am def going to get the joe p.... yea the standard turboxs controller is just a bleeder type... that sux big time... i could have gotten the joe p for less....:(
Im upgrading from the T-25 to an Evo 3 turbo in about a week and looking for a MBC. I came across the Joe-P but dont know which one to get the XZ or XZ-S. Im going to get the evo 3 + walbro 190 so which MBC so i go with to run around 10psi on the evo 3?
I ended up buying the hallman rx MBC, WORKS PRETTY GOOD, NO BOOST SPIKING.
I bought a turbosmart BC from WWW.logicperformance.com for $69 and it works way better then my joe p. After useing the joe p for a season it started spiking on me. some members said it was the best boost controller ever but I like the turbosmart way better. :) It solved my boost problem.
check it out***

Good luck regardless what you go with....
Yeah I second the Turboxs dual stage from extremepsi but Joe P and Hallman are still good. All three are good.

Yeah I couldn't pass the deal up that I bought it for and it works awesome. I had a friend who had the turbo xs dual stage and he hated it. He ended up replacing it w/ a hallman
Last I read, most/all the XS controllers are just bleeders. I currently run a "cheap ebay" boost controller, cost $15 shipped, and it's a ball and spring and works fine at 20+psi. I don't know what some of you guys are buying, but there aren't too many ways to make a decent boost controller.

$50+ for a manual boost controller, damn, it better come with multiple settings or a free oil change.
Joe P for $45 like the others said. I have a blitz dsbc that was friggin 500 bucks and it's malfunctioning on me, so I'm reinstalling my joe P cuz it never fails. =]
As far as electronic boost controllers go, I don't stray from the Greddy Profec-B. Otherwise, I'd make a homemade one from parts at Home Depot. About $7 I think is the total. I have the remnants of my first one, I just didn't like getting out to adjust the boost. I love the fact that I have three boost settings, and it's easily adjustable from the cockpit.

Off = 9psi
Low = 17psi
High = 25psi

For the most part, I run with it off, unless I meet up with a car that wants to tangle on the street, then I turn it on low. Otherwise, I need to find some 104 or better, to sweeten the mixture up.
